Davenport(our new Chancellor) has been hired to clean house. They want all new blood in athletic department. Butch has been made aware of this and has been seeking ways out of Knoxville.

The hold up is Davenport blocked Blackburn hire. She wants a new face to department. She also demands new AD approve any HC hire. She has not even begun the process for hiring a new AD other than Blackburn. Most thought she would just approve Blackburn hire but she wants someone who was not around for any of issues causing recent litigation. The process will likely take us into February until we have an AD.

The plan previous to Vandy loss was to let Hart and Butch hire new assistants and give him one more year if he couldn't find somewhere else to coach. Not sure anything has changed. Boosters are upset and pushing now but Davenport has to approve any moves and she is a strong willed person.

I don't know anything about your stats, OP, but I'm going to assume for fun that this is all square. Do you (or anyone else) think this goes back to some bad blood between Davenport and Jones? For those who are unaware, she has Cincinnati ties.

Well if she is blocking Blackburn she is already making her first big mistake. He would be a great AD hire and the shot in the arm we need. We can never get the higher ups on the same freakin page and they screw crap up. I pray she re-thinks her tunnel vision ways if that is indeed the case. GBO!!!!!

If she doesn't like Jones then you'd think she'd do anything in her power to get an AD in and Jones out as quick as possible

Not sure there is any connection. She was hired to clean up problems at UT. She wants no one in athletic department who has connections to past problems/litigation. Not personal problem with Butch

No, if it's true that she doesn't want anyone who was here during the allegations and thus causing the lawsuit then I think that's a smart move, no need to bring in someone who could be linked to that

I've gotten lost. What litigation-related issue was Blackburn around for?

edit: nm I forgot how far back some of the Title IX claims went.

Hiring a new AD would be nearly impossible for her to do before starting the job, not to mention that would require firing Hart and paying his buyout.

She came to Cincinnati in 2013. She wasn't there when Butch was around. There's always the chance that she heard plenty of negative stuff about Butch though...and I am sure she has asked around about him.

Sounds the rest of the SEC has us right where they want us.

Standing at the bus stop, pants down, with our junk in our hand saying, "what the problem is"?

Well, if Title IX comes into play for hiring an AD and Coach with ties to Tennessee or problems at other schools. Then the lists for both is going to be very short for both positions.

Sounds like she is looking for an yes man....

I'm not an insider but I can guarantee one thing. When Butch is fired or resigns (not if) whether it be a year from now or two or next month, a lot of very negative things are going to come out about him. He showed his true colors by ditching his players at the presser last night. Any game that was won this year was won by these kids, not his awful game planning.

While I like the idea of Blackburn for AD, he was involved with bringing Butch here, from what I understand. I am all for a different guy/gal as AD. The new AD needs to hire some good damn coaches

Involved does not mean Decision Maker(s) Butch was the third choice supposedly. Hard to not go along with the bosses and be a dissenting vote when you are down to the 3rd pick. Blackburn and most of the rest of the group were going to have to cave.

Should be hired

Agreed 200%. Only a coward bolts on the presser and passes the mic to his Sr QB. His chicken chit move is getting noticed nationaly today too.

He's a liar I'm certain now. When he said "eff all these people" on TV against Tech....then lied and said he was talking about the play call or some bull chit.....I said right there he's a liar. Don't misunderstand I don't care that he said it, but don't lie about it. He's starting to show his colors & like you said, we'll hear a lot of negative stuff once he's gone.
