The Culinary Arts Thread

When you go to Olive Garden with your grandson and his family and order the seafood Alfredo because the menu says it has scallops in it and you haven’t had any scallops in a while but it didn’t mention they were miniature scallops.

In 2025 if a dish includes scallop(s) in the description and its less than $30 its bay scallops.

Looks dry.

Hey @Behr based on what you've heard restaurants doing, when people order "white fish," what species of fish are they getting?

In the past, unscrupulous people would punch out pieces of skate wing (or ray) and try to pass these off as scallops.

Edit: Beat to the punch.
glad you've never been in a position to scramble together enough fish for a big fry and used them
I like skate wings, but then again, I like spadefish

So what are regular scallops called and why didn’t they say in the menu the dish had bay scallops instead of real scallops?

I like skate wing for what it is. I don’t like that shaped pieces of it are passed off as scallops.

Sea scallops are what you're calling real scallops. Its a marketing tool to just say scallops, in your case it worked. Lol.

That said, some prefer bay scallops. I love me some good bay scallops, but they have to be good ones and cooked right...just like the real ones.

This is complete BS...I hope nobody believes you. You are a festering boil on the butt of this fan base and likely a miserable bastard who is intolerable in the rest of your life as well. I bet you make your own family completely miserable. Go root for the Gumps. Clearly you can't stand UT. At least your screen name is accurate. Its the last time you were correct.
