Get their parents off drugs and the ‘hand out’ mentally, at least in my area. I wish anyone of y’all could spend a week getting to know my work kids. Example, I have one 14 years old, 14 years frigging old having to help pay his parents bills because they would rather lay up with drugs and their children to work. I could go on, but it will really fire me up.So how do we stop the degeneration of young people today?

Edit: also, DHS stepped in to take his sisters because I can’t let my mind go there.
I’m putting 17-19 year old kids in who are working 2-3 jobs to support their “parents”. Then I have to have serious conversations with them about using a bank account that said “parents” are not attached to. Because said “parents” will bleed them dry while the kid is in training. Part of my not here convo above is that this generation isn’t remotely close to being as lazy or lacking drive and ambition as the previous generations want to believe. And as y’all mentioned, the bigger problem is the parents and other older influencershave strung out parents who call the school wanting to know why the child didn't pay the internet bill
we could both go on
edit: call the kid OUT OF CLASS to take a phone call about it
and I will add to that: the "kids" today are not the only ones on their phones while driving....the adults I see are much worse....and the teachers who cannot stay off their phones during the school day is a major problem in my opinion (not everyone shares that opinion, but I don't care)I’m putting 17-19 year old kids in who are working 2-3 jobs to support their “parents”. My dad is 69 years old. Got him his first smart phone this year. He’s addicted to it. He doesn’t use it driving, but he can’t stay off it. He’s retired, so it doesn’t matter what he does. But the lure of having everything constantly at your fingertips is tempting for all generationsand I will add to that: the "kids" today are not the only ones on their phones while driving....the adults I see are much worse....and the teachers who cannot stay off their phones during the school day is a major problem in my opinion (not everyone shares that opinion, but I don't care)
The ‘kids’ just need simple guidance, period.I’m putting 17-19 year old kids in who are working 2-3 jobs to support their “parents”. Sadly, it’s up to us olders and a few good parents, plus decent peers (honestly, that’s what they cling to).and I will add to that: the "kids" today are not the only ones on their phones while driving....the adults I see are much worse....and the teachers who cannot stay off their phones during the school day is a major problem in my opinion (not everyone shares that opinion, but I don't care)
Same. I don’t want to delve much further, hence last night’s not here mention. I didn’t want to go this farand I am just going to say I could type a novel about this subject, I think, and I won't
but there are far too many people who exercise such consistently poor judgment around the "kids" every day, and it's a wonder that most of these kids are as functional as they are
know a teacher who told a female student last semester, "Your grade dropped because you missed all that work when your mother died"...said this in front of the entire class...needed to have his jaw broken for that, imo...and that's what I told the girl's dad...teacher is NEASame.
