The continued Bryce Brown saga (merged)

What they did and what they said don't have to agree completely in this case. They still went to a Pilot station with the intent to rob someone. And they did. All that they didn't do, if this is true, is stand there and explain exact details of who they were going to rob.

Then why did Brown wait until now to speak up........ a cover-up is a cover-up even if a 19 yr old does it

Man I gotta get me one of those crystal balls. Where'd you say you got that?

I got it by watching them get worked by Nebraska.

But hey, if you want to think that they're of BCS caliber, go right ahead. I'm sure tens of other people are right there with you.

Dont know if its been posted already but according to the Sports Animal Brown met the 3 players in the elevator and the 3 told him they planned on robbing it. I doubt Janzen could get in trouble still but you never know. Seems like Bryce is still being a baby and burning some bridges. Fyi I hate the whole Brown deal and I am over it but thougt it needed posting.

"according to the Sports Animal"...

Isn't this misprision of felony? Or would that only be the case after a crime had in fact occurred? Some of our legal geniuses can weigh in.

Wouldn't Bryce Brown have a legal obligation to inform the police of a crime that was going to take place? Since he knew about the plans, could he not be named as an accessory to the crime?

Sounds sketchy. Why would they tell him that. And that whole "robbery" wasn't planned out. It was more opportunistic than anything.

Sounds like a story carefully crafted by atty Greg Issics (sp) to gain sympathy with the voters. Spinning it to their advantage imo. He needs to stick to defending mass murderers and leave the small stuff like this bs to someone else.

I'm sure a certain few would love to see Bryce Brown go to jail or get some type of sentence for disrespecting the hallowed Volunteers, but it's not going to happen.

Yes. I think that is misprision of felony.

No. I think to be an accessory you have to participate or be involved in the planning of a crime. I could be completely wrong though.

Well it is obvious he is trying to stir the pot, but if they did indeed tell him that he should be in trouble because he should have reported it to the authorities. People have a duty to report things like that if they no the are going to happen, like I said he and his dad are just stirring crap up. GO VOLS!

Ha, have you been reading Blackstone lately?

No and No.

I think knowing about a crime in advance and not reporting it could make him an accessory before the fact.

This kid needs to just let it go.

Had a preacher friend say something relevant one time: Whatever you do to get them in you'll have to do to keep them in... or more.

Kiffin romanced BB and, according to some, O paid him. His "friendship" with that girl... I don't even want to know about.

Kiffin gave and promised BB special treatment to get his signature. Some will say it is worth it. I don't think so. His story reminds me of an old movie: "Johnny Be Good"... except that character wasn't really a head case and didn't have a nutjob father.

Please read back through my posts and show me where I said anything about them being BCS caliber... I said they are 4-1, wish we were.

I was eluding to the fact that JJ might want a piece of Brown after these comments. I'm not real sure why you have a problem with that...

No school is obligated to renew a player's scholarship after one year, even if the player did nothing to warrant losing it.

If Brown has to pay for one year of school for transferring, I think it's only fair that Dooley should have to work his first year at UT for free since he failed to fulfill his Louisiana Tech contract.

And how long should your hero be required to work without pay?

Actually you were right earlier but wrong here.

Scholarships ARE for one year but the NCAA rule on signed scholarship agreements is that a player who leaves after a complete year must wait a year before signing with another school unless given a release at the discretion of the original school. It is effectively a "contract" with a very specific "out clause".

DD's contract at LT also had an out clause which he complied with. There is no comparison between his leaving and BB's leaving. Both are being or were handled in accordance with their "contract".

Why is this unfair for Brown?

Because BB was Kiffin's prize recruit... and Kiffin did everything PERFECT according to some folks. Obviously if BB was unhappy and left after Kiffin did then it is unfair to BB to expect anything less. He should be granted a release because after all... who would want to stay at UT after Kiffin left?

I wish bb the best, but it's clear the kid has issues. I hope someday he gets the proper medical attention he needs.

Good point... I forgot about the unfairness of being screwed over by a coach, regardless of the quality free education, room/board, meals, etc... I'm surprised that didn't come up in his argument, although he may have realized after his comment about Dooley having to work without pay for a year that it would have to apply to Kiffin also, so he didn't bring it up.

He should commite a crime and make the PROGRAM look bad and he will get his release. Thats what all the others do.

SO FREAKIN STUPID to keep someone on scholarship that doesnt want to be here. What kid would want to play for a school or coach that is jerking a player around like that. That will be thrown up by every other coach.

What the hell is the matter with Dooley? Grow up. Just let BB move on with his life. Your hurting the kid chances for sports after college and yourself in recruiting.

What kills me in all this is the players who screw up and go to jail get a release and the ones who obey the law get punished.
