Is that this team isn't very good, at least by our standards. The red flags were flying high during the Appy state game. Va Tech basically beat themselves. Super human effort by Jennings beat a pitiful Dawgs team. Only real quality win is against a slightly better than mediocre Gators team.

In hindsight we should have expected this disappointing ending to the season. We were fooled by the east being so down.

Is it coaching? Are many of the players simply not as good as advertised? I don't know but my gut tells me it is a little of both and perhaps some other factors we don't know about. Injuries certainly didn't help but if we have defensive guys on the roster that are giving up record setting offensive performances by KY, MIZZOU and Vandy then we are not recruiting as well as we thought.

It is looking like Jones is a lot more talk than action, as this seems to be his max. We got him for at least another year, I will be hopeful as always but the reality is this season has been a huge disappointment which will carry into next year. A trip to Atlanta will just be a fantasy for a long, long time.

1975 Yards. That's what this team's so called Defense has allowed over the last 3 games.

I know, and not to noteworthy teams.
I thought the beating Bubba put on us was an anomaly but the anomaly was the win over Florida.

It's game day coaching for sure, but it's a lack of smart recruiting and development as well. There's no excuse for such a huge drop off defensively after a few injuries to starters.

You would think at some point pride would take over this defense. I have said all year Shoop needs to get his butt out of the press box and on the side lines. Pride carried Fl to their LSU win, I don't see that kind of pride in our players. Something is amiss.

The truth is that the 3rd string dt's, 3rd string line backers, and third string safeties are just not very good. Jumper was making me want to throw something at the tv all day long. If he is the best option we have /we are out of options. Not a cut on him as I know he was a walkon - but he plays like a walkon - never sheds a block, doesn't flow to the ball carrier, always gets tied up in traffic, takes horrible angles, and watches as guys run right past him. It is easy to say next man up - but with 3rd stringers at 7 of the 11 defensive positions.

This^^^^^^

It all starts with recruiting and the Vols don't have the right Jimmy's and Joe's to be anything other than champions for life, or so it seems.:eek:hmy:

What you are saying is the players are not taught, period. When the people that know say a guy is 3-4-5 star recruit and we don't teach him how to play, or teach him the mental part of the game, the where does the fault lie?
