The Coaching Staff Is Nearly Complete, Unstoppable

A winning season, eight wins, a bowl game; those are the sorts of goals and benchmarks we should have for the first year. All this other talk is delusional.
Those are my thoughts/goals/expectations. Along with a win over one of our big 3.

As much as I like this staff, be careful not to get overly excited and start predicting all these huge things guys. I know we are all biased in our opinions as Vol fans. But sit back and think about this staff. Do you really think it is "godly"? Kiffin has proved nothing. Coach O has proved nothing. Lets just let this play out before putting our foot in our mouths.
Coach O has proven that he's one of the best DL coaches in the country.

Really? So Ole Miss had a great Dline while he was there? I think if you look back it will show that they were average with him at best.

And I am sick of seeing the recruiting stuff. Fulmer could recruit too and we see what that got us the past eight years. These guys have to be coached up. Can Kiff do that?

I think that the coaching staff is big. I think it will take a couple of years though at least for things to start going as well as Kiffin wants them to go. I say we might can beat UGA, but saying that we are going to beat all 3 is just crazy. I dont care who the coaches are we still have the same Qbs, and we are not going to win all 3 of those games with Crompton, Stevens, or Coleman taking snaps. It would be great if we did, but I just dont want to get my hopes up then have them crash down this year like they did last year so im just going to try to be realistic.

In 3 Years we will be the USC of the east coast.
Next Year 9-3 with a win over either FL or BAMA
Then 11-1 and a trip to fiesta
Then Undefeated

Many of us had these kind of expectations for our team last year... and we all know how that turned out... just think we all need to be reasonable with our expectations form this new staff in their first year

I am sorry to say there is little chance of us beating Florida, Georgia, and Alabama all next year. We'll be doing good to knock off one of them (Alabama?).

A winning season, eight wins, a bowl game; those are the sorts of goals and benchmarks we should have for the first year. All this other talk is delusional.

First off, did they get one of the best DC in the NFL? No
Second, did they get one of the best DL Coaches and recruiters? No

Third, their recruiting classes aren't near as good as what we've had. Here's proof:

2007-ranked 40th
2006-ranked 17th
2005-ranked 26th
2004-ranked 34th

I'll take this moment to point out UCLA built an NFL experienced coaching staff and rode it to a 4-8 record last season.

And I'll take this moment to say that while that is true, how is UCLA's recruiting going this year? That's what I thought.

I have high hopes but I am not really expecting a whole lot in this first year.
Same. I spoke with a guy who I will keep anonymous who is a former college coach with over 35 years of college coaching experience in D1 football and 15 years in the SEC coaching offenses and he told me that compared to what Kiffen will run Clawsons offense was as simple as can be and that Kiffen would have a real rough start getting these guys to learn the offense. So alot of our early success will depend on how they do at learning the new offense, but if having a simple offense is what these players want then I am affraid they are out of luck.

The only thing that scares me is every year the Yankees supposedly have a "dream team" and we see how that always works out.

There is a point where unbridled optimism crosses over into delusional lunacy (think Bammer).

Let's try not to cross that line folks.

I only stated the edge that we now have due to Monte, Ed O, and all of the NFL experience that we have collectively on this staff. National Championships are unbelievable, but most of these kids are looking to get into the NFL, and we offer the most appealing staff to get them there...hands down.
