The Cincinnati boards have a lot to say

I'm not going to sign off on this staff yet but improvement has to be made or we will start losing recruits and take a step backwards (talent wise). The OU game I still think is more on defensive depth and injury but the UF game is all on the staff.

2 timeouts that seemingly gave UF time to organize, no pressure on 4th and 14, conservative play calling in the back half of the game..... not signs of a confident staff....

To their credit I like the some of the calls in the first half. There was something poetic about a jump lass in the house that Tebow built. Bottom line is the coaches cost the players that game and owe it to them to improve.

Its pretty simple honestly, all you ever needed to know about Jones and his decision making is evident in the game that Dooley ran him off the field. Down 21 half way through the 3rd Qtr and he kicks a field goal from the 1 yard line.

But this kick gets him to 18. He knows he won't get 3 more possessions so now all he needs is two TD's, two 2x conversions and a safety on defense to tie it. The analytics say he's more likely to get a safety than another possession so now he can get 3 scores out of only 2 possessions. Trust the chart.

Butch Babies will say this is all sour grapes.

I assume I am one of those to which you are referring. In reality, most people recognize the poor in-game strategy lately but the supporters differ in the fix. We do not scream for his firing at this point of his tenure. It's a pretty simple position...and imo it's best for UT football. We are not saying that is a permanent stance, just not jumping off the bridge today.

Look, let's be real, we have an good coach, but not elite. It's not like Cincy was 11-0 playing in the sugar bowl and we swooped in and beat Notre Dame or someone to the punch. This is who he is, he's not going to change, and he's not going anywhere.

well dont expect many double digit wins or championships

I have one post, to my knowledge, calling for his firing, under one circumstance. That's if he fails to win more than 8 games next year. He'll have 4 of his classes and a top 10 roster in terms of paper rankings. At that point, player development and/or scheme will be the issue if they don't live up to the billing.

If we hire a good replacement and these recruits aren't totally out of place in the new system, plenty of them will stay. Regardless, you don't make hiring/firing decisions on what you think an 18 year old might do.

I agree to a degree but this based on the assumption there is a list of "desirable" coaches knocking the door down. That is sort of the mindset that kicked the whole downward spiral off. Im in the camp of letting the season play out.

It appears we have identical positions. That was not meant to be a personal attack. I've just been posting more than usual lately defending against the irrational people calling for his head right now. Not good for the program and not good for the current season. Here's to the cooler heads prevailing amidst the outspoken minority.

If changes aren't made moving forward though, I have reservations as to whether or not he can get there. That's what scares me. As others have said, the same mistakes have been made repeatedly and that's troubling. One "mistake" that doesn't get brought up anymore is his handling of challenging the onside kick in the Mizzou game last year. With 2 TO's left and the potential to stop the clock and get the ball back to at least have a shot he wasted that TO on a challenge he had no chance in hell of winning. That lost TO all but ensured we'd have no shot of getting the ball back. He handles late game situations about as poorly as Dooley if not more so.

It is undeniably true and concerning.

I repeat... Bearcat fans tried to warn us, none of us would listen. But everything they said has come to fruition.

Great cheerleader but Butch cant coach. Thats bottom line.

Speaking of cheerleader - what happened to our first down clap chant?

Do not put me in that boat. I have been posting and saying he is a fraud from the beginning, but I was shouted down by the sunshine pumpers, coach worshipers, etc. They will do the same thing when our joke of an admin trots out the next clown in a couple of years.

Get boosters on the same page, get someone other than Hart running the search, and pony up real money rather than trying to go bargain bin shopping as we have with the previous two guys and we'll get someone that can win games without all this "learning how to win" junk.
