The Butch Jones Show

On the radio Butch said, "worst offensive performance I have ever been a part of". That was very carefully worded because its actually the worst offensive performance he has been in charge of. Could be a sign the OC is headed underneath the bus if things get bad.

The fact that this coaching staff is not being held accountable for our teams lack of success is beyond me. These top recruiting classes that we've had are not transitioning to on field success.

In our jobs, if we are given the tools to succeed and every opportunity to do so and we still do not succeed, then that responsibility falls on us. Same principle applies here.

Honestly, I reached that point by about his second year. Even when he's winning, he still says nothing of substance. And now that he's losing- badly, I certainly don't care what what he has to say.

If you and I don't care what he has to say how do you think players feel

Wasn't it "working like heck," and "I've gotta watch the film," that dominated Fulmer's final season post game interview speeches?

It's clear now. Butch is just waiting for his buyout money.
Just like Dooley.
He has one foot our the door, may as well push him and get both feet out.

Edit:
I didn't watch it. Why would I, I can predict exactly what he will say.
Get back to work huh? Lot of good that work has done you so far huh Jones?

Im in Fla but been tennessee fan for 30 years, up there often.
For years i have complained about the tackling of our team. Seems like they are taught "Head and shoulders"
Watched that game and lost count of number of yards after contact. We ran along side with ball carrier sometimes 5-8 yards.
If you cant even teach "leg" tackling. Hang it up!
Wrap em up! NO arm tackling.
Forget rest of basic.

Thinking about switching over to Fla or Alabama myself! LOL

Really sad is he is probably not getting fired. AD, would have canceled that show. Well at least a smart one would have.

You can't "cancel" a show when you have a contract to provide it, and which the station and advertisers rely on when paying you money for said show.

You make Butch fulfil the obligation, then you have a meeting with him at 1:00, followed by the announcement of his dismissal at 2:00.

The coach's show has become 5 minutes of game tape and 40 minutes of fluff. I miss Johnny's show which was 40 minutes of tape and 5 minutes of next week's opponent.

This!!! I can't stand to watch all the bull$#it and commercials for only 5 minutes of tape review, and haven't in 4 years. Next guy in needs to get back to game review like Majors and before. When I was a kid, I so looked forward to Sunday to see the Doug Dickey, Bill Battle and Johnny Majors shows. There was nothing more important on Sunday than that show. What they put out now is crap

And while we are all *****ing about everything, I want the damn Power T on field to be bigger. I want the Power T to stretch from 40 yard line to 40 yard line, bigger and bolder. The tiny T they use now is driving me nuts!! I hate that thing.

Go back to work? Really? That's it?

I hate when people say "work hard" or "hard work pays off"

There is some truth to the "hard work pays off" theory. Hard work pays off if and only if you are doing it exactly the right way.

Let me explain.....

You can work hard. Really hard. So damn hard you're working harder than everyone else's working hard. You can work so damn hard that it's actually counterintuitive and MOST of the time that's the result.

You can work so damn hard digging a hole in the ground looking for water or oil or whatever you're digging for. You can work so hard, working harder than your competition. Working so hard to get there so fast. Work so hard all day and take no breaks and just work so damn hard just digging so hard.........

and get absolutely nowhere. No results. Just a big deep meaningless gaping hole....because you were working so hard...digging and working so hard that you were so consumed by the thought of working so hard and outworking everyone else...

after all you were digging in the wrong spot....what you were working so HARD for was not there. Not in the spot you were working so hard. You didn't stop working hard to take some time to think about what you were doing....you just kept doing all you know to do. Work hard....it will pay off...just keep doing what your doing even if your doing it completely wrong....surely, that hard work with pay off....

There is an answer to this thought process. A cure. One that actually gets results. One that actually results in progress and reaching goals......

IT'S CALLED WORKING SMART.

Sure, being lazy really won't get you anywhere.

But working smart means you are still "working". It just means you are smarter than your competition.

Butch Jones works hard. Very hard. But he doesn't work smart. He's so consumed with working hard that his results are often dumb. Mostly dumb.

Butch Jones is just returning to that same hole every work day and working very hard on it. Still looking in that same hole of hard work searching for the prize that's not there.....it's in another spot....in fact he's working so hard that he hasn't stopped long enough to ask himself....wait...am I digging in the wrong area?

Work smart folks....not hard.....

Work like heck!

I may be misremembering but seems like Fulmer and Majors would discuss and show the opponents scoring and what we needed to do better. This is garbage.

On now.

"All you can do is go back to work..."

I agree with this and do not understand all of the objections. If the AD goes back to work on a coaching search while Butch goes back to work salvaging the season as well as he can, then maybe Butch's achievements can be preserved for the next guy to take us up to the next level.

Yes, I was just thinking the same thing last week. Majors and Fulmer would show every play in the game, good bad or indifferent.
