People forgive. I know I do. If a coach started using negative recruiting like you are suggesting it would turn me off. But that's just my opinion.

I certainly can see that side, that it could turn people off, but I'm seeing, or trying to see both sides. There are some that see no negatives, not that you are one.

I think you are under estimating those transgressions in the basketball community, woefully.

I don't think so. I think most view the NCAA is a joke and view Bruce's punishment as excessive. Sure, other coaches will try and exploit it but all Bruce has to do is show the kid his record against said coach.

As to assistants there are many quality assistants that Bruce/UT could attract. Ironically, I think his actions of turning in others for cheating early in his career will hurt him far more than his recent issues when it comes to assistants.

I don't think at the time, anybody came out and said it was too harsh. I think there may be some media types and fans that can look back and based on what's transpired since with the NCAA have that opinion.

I disagree, I think he'll have an extremely tough time getting any proven assistants, any top notch guys...and I'm basing that on his entire career from the Thomas kid to "the bump".

We're talking about perception now not three years ago.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on assistants. I truly believe there are many coaches that would love to study under Pearl. We'll find out soon cause he will be coaching soon. I doubt it will be at UT but I hope it's not at another SEC team.

Yes, we'll have to disagree. I don't think the perception inside the coaching profession has changed. You might be right about the rest.

What did BP say to Aaron Crafts dad?. Does anybody even know? Was it reported, or assumed?

After they had arrived and spent some time at the dinner, the three prospects and their
family members were ushered to an outdoor veranda by the former head men's basketball
coach. There he informed them that their attendance was a violation of NCAA rules and
encouraged them to not disclose to others their attendance at the gathering.

The former head men's basketball coach violated the NCAA's principle of ethical conduct when he knowingly engaged in the violations and provided false information about them to investigators. The violations were compounded when he asked the prospects and their families to conceal them. Moreover, on the same day as his interview with investigators, he phoned the father of prospect 1 ("prospect 1's father") and attempted to influence the statements prospect 1's father would make to investigators. These actions by the former head men's basketball coach failed to promote an atmosphere for rules compliance in his program.

66 - imagine we are 2 years from now and BP is recruiting a kid to enroll in 2017.

Do you really think a lie he told in 2010 about an event that took place in 2009 will have any bearing?

I just think he has completely rebuilt his image and time has a way of softening the public opinion on people.
i don't think many high school kids care about a BBQ lie even if it happened yesterday. Jmo

Parents care about their children, they want to send their boy/girl to as safe a place as possible and with coaches that have their children's best interest and well being in mind.

So sending their child off to some coach that has no idea how to coach basketball and took three years to install a zone defense is better off? I would question if that coach had the mental capacity to look after my child.

And it is obvious you are in the Pearl hater crowd.

I've said several times, I don't hate Pearl. I supported him when he was coach. He's no longer the coach because of the decisions he made.

Where is this crowd of Pearl haters, been here most of the day, yet to see even one, much less a crowd.

It's all good until your son's in the same car with the starting line up, booze, weed and a gun with a filed off serial number, huh? That's child's play compared to other stuff btw.

I spotted 15 or so today were screaming for Pearl to get fired the last year and they are the ones who support martin the most. Nice company?

She was over his grade compliance. Read up on Yemi and Hall.

I will, I'll look it up...Golden and Hall were brought into the program by Pearl, Yemi is Cuonzo's recruit. Hall did a tv interview about the Golden thing, don't think there were any charges on the Yemi thing, but I will look it up tomorrow. Golden wasn't dismissed by Martin but the school.

More to Martin's shame that he wouldn't stop it.

yea, that's really hurt coach Cal. Everyone knows he's a cheatin' sumbeach but he gets the number one class every year. Same with Patrino. They both lie.

Blaming Pearl or Martin for the stupid actions of these young men is a joke . Are they supposed to be with them 24/7?

Landed Kevin Ware and Chris Jones after that incident. And we were in the hunt for or leading for Damien Wilson, Jordan Adams, Tony Parker and lots of other 4* and 5* recruits. Also led for Jarnell Stokes and other underclassmen.

Pearl was not impacted by it. Just not as big as a deal as you think. Just like the lie incident wouldn't impact recruiting IMO.
