The Bruce Pearl Thread

Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

It's been discussed before, but I don't like that TBA is like an NBA arena. Make it 12,000 max and give the lower area to students and it would be awesome.

I wish they build them all like that and put the seats close to the floor in a basketball only configuration like at Duke. Problem is, a Multi-use building like that is a moneymaker, so they tack on 5,000 more seats so they can sell more concert tickets and have monster trucks and the circus inside.

I'm not an AD.....I'm a fan and being really mediocre like during Devoe kept us good enough to where we kept him longer without winning of significance...It's really blah basketball.

They're not the same, if you think the state of our program is the same as Auburns or Georgia's I would challenge you to go attend a few games of theirs.

If people go, in Auburns case that small arena isn't very intimidating lol

I'm an Auburn grad, flame on, but I attended a few games there and when they are playing a team that draws a crowd (Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama) it gets packed easily and very loud because of the size.

It's not intimidating because they are terrible at the sport but they used to have a good program.

The right coach could turn then into a competitive program, especially in this league.

Honestly it would be a great place for Bruce.

It holds 9,121 so it isn't too hard to fill out. I agree with other posters about small arenas. They make the atmosphere more electric, they appear to be full, and they are usually loud.

Auburn probably hasn't had a sell out in a long time, but if you watch them on tv their student section is usually always full because it doesn't take many students to do so.

Florida/auburn drew 8k people this year, and how many were Florida fans?

No interest to go in person unless they play us.....wasnt comparing actual fan support, stadiums or anything like that....I was stating that if u arent a consistent NCAA team than u r all in just one big sh*t pile.....we might be at the top of the sh*t pile but we are still in it.

I think it is worse to have a very mediocre but make the tourney every once in awhile than be a team like the Houston era. Alot of times those mediocre programs will keep their coach around forever without ever really accomplishing anything....Being pathetic will usually give u new leadership and direction.

If you want to see how pathetic Auburn's attendance is, follow EmptySeatsGalore on Twitter. They've re-tweeted out several pictures this year of Auburn games and there is hardly anyone there. Alabama and Georgia haven't been much better.

It may sound crazy but I feel like Bruce wants to come back and redeem himself. I Hart needs to reach out to him now. Not later. I understand we still have a lot of games left but it can't hurt anything. I want Bruce back. He's still a part of the UT family and deserves a second chace. He paid his dues.

He does not want to come back. Your feelings are wrong.

If you took a shot every time CPB was mentioned during today's UT telecast, please take a nap and set the keys aside for a little bit.

Honestly,

Did Bruce Pearl Spoil us?

Is he the best coach this program has ever had?

Is Martin the only coach to set the bar lower??

I'm wondering what program was/is similar to us...where a coach takes a program to ridiculous heights and (is either fired or hired away) and the program sinks? I've yet to find that answer.

And if you do, please tell me what happens. I'm getting antsy.

mods.....why was my post in the Bruce Pearl thread?

It's a question about our program! Did I need to reference Butler? Iowa? Memphis? even Kentucky? I decided to look it up myself.

I think Iowa might be the best for example..

After Steve Alford left Iowa, Todd Lickliter came from Butler but never put Iowa in the big dance or even NIT. He was fired in 3 years.

Now, Fran McCaffery is in his 4th year, but he has his team in a great position so far..
