Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

I live in Birmingham, and that's exactly what the fans are hoping for here. Yee friggin hah... I will officially stop watching UT basketball at that point. The thought of a Bruce Pearl coached Alabama team handing our azzes to us makes me ill.

You should start preparing yourself.

I sincerely hope that if Bruce is not hired back to UT, that he is hired by an SEC team. I desperately want to see the melt down that occurs up close and personal on game days. Until the regime in administration and on the BOT changes on the hill - crisis management will be the order of the day every day.

Oh I have been... Some of y'all who don't have to put up with bammer crap on a daily basis really need to let it sink in that the best and my favorite coach UT has had since Ray Mears will be coaching and recruiting for the University of Alabama... Been wonderful being a UT fan the last several years... :cray: ok. I feel better now... Kind of.

Actually, it's not. How many millions do you think it's cost the University in buyouts, lost revenue, etc. due to Pearl's bad decision? Now why would you give him the chance to do it to you again when there are others out there who could perform the job at the same level.

Do you mean we could have hired someone to do what Pearl did and waited all those decades to do it? Sorry but, I will take my chances on Pearl instead of waiting another 75 years.

Probably $0 millions. I doubt they had to buy out anybody because they were fired with cause.

And it's not Pearl's fault they failed to hire someone who was good enough to fill the seats and put a winning product on the floor.

I'm not arguing that Tennessee "could" hire someone who might perform at the same level as Pearl. My argument is that Pearl's performance is a known commodity, he's available, and he lives in town.

Exactly. I tried to tell this to the same ones not wanting him back before he was fired. They kept saying that we could hire a good coach that would do even better than Pearl and look at the crap we got in Pearl's place.

Now is one of those times to do what makes sense, not whats always been done in the past....

Pearl needs to be our coach again. He's the only coach we ever had to remain loyal to our school and our city.....and that was after he was unceremoniously removed from his position.

There are no unknowns about Pearl...his abilities....his strengths....his weaknesses....his secrets....his abilities....his love of basketball, and his love of Tennessee basketball...

Yeah right.....Alabama fans don't give a crap about basketball, even when they are good.

This is the crap I'm talking about that we have some seriously stupid fans saying some incredibly stupid things.

I don't care how much you hate Martin and love Pearl, if you wish for something great to happen for a rival that makes life hard for us, just for spite, you're a terrible fan.

My final thoughts and I'll be done in this thread for a while.

Violations happen. We commit violations. We break the speeding limits, rolling stops, accidentally leave stuff off our taxes, etc. **** happens. We are flawed human beings. I get it.

However, integrity it still important, at least to me. Tennessee is an academic institution that, in part of its statement, encourages integrity.

Bruce Pearl lied, tried to cover up his lie, and tried to get others to cover for him. He has shown a propensity for screwing up in the past. He's not worth the risk in of itself to be hired, plus he would be a bad example for the university in my opinion. It sends a bad message to others that lying is okay. Do I believe Pearl should never be allowed to coach again? No. He received his punishment and when it has ended, he can do as he pleases. However, it shouldn't be at Tennessee. He's had his chance. His was a great run. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish he didn't screwed up. Had he left for the NBA and was fired, health reasons, etc. and the AD fired Coach Martin, I'd be perfectly fine with him coming back to the program.

However, that is not the case nor the circumstances. Tennessee isn't an elite coaching job, but is definitely a top 25 job and Tennessee can hire someone with good credentials that can achieve great success here. Bruce Pearl isn't the only man available for the Tennessee job, nor should he be. He has too much baggage that he carries.

Tennessee doesn't have to resort to a man with a three year show clause over his head. Tennessee can do better than that and deserves better than that.

Please name one proven, winning coach better than Pearl that would come to Tennessee.

Silly question because he can't do that anymore than you can name another SEC school that would hire Bruce Pearl; and I don't mean speculation, I mean you know for a fact he is on their list and they are ready to interview him.

I can say Ben Howland, but you'll probably say "He won't come to Tennessee", even though he's not coaching and his resume is better than Pearl's.

Sure we do and our AD and Administration have done a great job with hires in the past haven't they? We can take a proven coach that we know can succeed here in Pearl or roll the dice with another experiment. Based on our history of hires , I'm pretty sure what our bozo's will choose to do. BTW, is your last name Hamilton?

If it happens and we don't hire a top coach in stead this bb program deserves a Red Sox type curse for the next hundred years.

Unfortunately, I've got to agree with ZJC. Bruce will never be back. Instead lead another school deep into the tournament year in and year out. Tennessee's AD and board is too arrogant to swallow its pride and bring back Bruce. Ever school cheats. Its who gets caught. I don't know all the details but Im 100% positive theres more to it then just minor recruiting violations. BP pissed somebody off. You don't throw your best coach ever under the bus.
