It's possible. I thought the stars were aligning perfectly during the E8 run. He just ran into Izzo in March.

Had he only been able to coach either half court offense or half court defense, he surely would have been right there.

Hard to say, his last year looked even better when they started 7-0 and won the preseason NIT. Then the season went to crap and we found out later why.

I would have loved to see how that season played out had he not screwed up.

Loved the orange and white tie Pearl was sporting this morning on ESPN!I for one hope UT gives him another shot if we don't get in the tourny next year.He clearly still loves UT and has learned a lesson.I know he lied but anybody on here that says they've never told a lie is full of sh**!

Morality and ethics aside ... Pearl is a dynamo, with faults like everybody else. Hell, Clinton was reelected after the Lewinsky scandal blew up and he lied about having sex with her.

What's important is winning basketball games and making Tennessee a basketball school again, which Pearl was in the process of doing. Six tourney appearances, one appearance in the elite eight, one basket away from the Final Four. His charisma enabled him to motivate players and impress recruits. Martin, where charisma is concerned, is seriously lacking. Forget the lies ... winning is the important thing. Did I just say that?

But I have NO problem bring in Perl back if he can't get it done. no reason we should punish him any further IMO. Maybe it will be bad PR for a couple days but in this media evironment no one will remember after he's won his first couple of big games.

Agreed. No telling what kind of recruiting Pearl would have done had he stayed.
