The Bruce Pearl Thread

Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

One of the silliest threads ever. He will never be employed by UT again.

Pearl was good for the program at UT. He had a lot of charisma, and that translated into motivated teams and impressed recruits. I'm not surprised he's having a career talking about basketball, because he is extremely articulate about the game. There are a lot of people who would like to see Pearl come back to UT. He took UT to Number One, albeit briefly, and had a team in the elite eight, one shot away from the Final Four. The Pearl days were great days. If someone put together a petition to rehire Pearl, I swear I would sign it.

Solid post, IMO.

I hope Pearl is hired back, Martin just doesn't get the best out of his players. I know McRae had a good season but cmon man this is ridiculous. I hate seeing this after the beautiful Pearl Days.

I would love to have Bruce back. and i would love to be a fly on the wall to see a former board members face when it happens

players. He cannot get it done. Just let him be a program housesitter for another year until Pearl's time in the penalty box expires, the send him packing!

I'd favor total abolition of the program before bringing Pearl back. That's what we'd effectively be doing anyway, because the NCAA would be camped right outside his office and would nail him at the first (with him, it's inevitable) screw-up.

And a lot of others told you what has happened was going to happen.
A lot of others would rather see total abolition of the program than this return to mediocrity.

This is a poorly coached team, and a bad coach and staff. We don't adjust to other teams ever. We don't run plays worth a damn. We don't dictate tempo, we don't push transition hardly at all. We do nothing to make other teams adjust to us or even be uncomfortable against us. We just HOPE we make threes, and HOPE they miss shots. I am sorry, blast all you want, but nothing shows me it's going to be any better next year, and especially beyond that. Use Maymon as an excuse sure, but guess what... we didn't make the NCAA last year WITH him. We aren't firing him right now i know that. He's going to get next year, but if he doesn't win and win at a high level, the Bruce noise is going to get REAL loud . Zo's seat is hot, real hot right now.

Only from people who don't understand the historical significance of a show cause. Which, unfortunately, seems to be around 90% of this board...

did you post this during the winning streak to end the season? After the 30pt UK blowout? After the win over UF?

Well, then lets just shut down the program because the crap we're watching now under Cuonzo is worthless. Sticking with this garbage is simply not even trying to be a good program.

There's only been one coach in D-I history who got another D-I job after a show-cause. Todd Bozeman...and the job he got was Morgan State.

Pearl is cut from the same mold as Kelvin Sampson but doesn't have 1/2 his coaching ability. No one of relevance is going to be desperate enough to take on someone with his baggage.
