Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

People need to understand there are Vol fans that like Coach Pearl and there are Vol fans that hate Bruce Pearl. Liking something or someone is subjective. Some people like raw oysters and some detest them. It doesn't make someone an idiot or clueless either way or less of a Vol fan. Also, liking coach Pearl doesn't mean you dislike Coach Martin. They are not mutually exclusive.

Thank you

There are plenty of Vol fans like me that loved Pearl but also don't think for a second he will ever come back and think it's rather silly to even consider it a possibility. But most would lump us in the "hates Pearl" camp when it's simply not true at all.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I love coach Pearl. I completely understand that he his solely responsible for his own demise. I also think there is a .000001% chance of him coaching our beloved Vols again. That doesn't stop me from pondering what if.

Although we all know how highly unlikely it is for Bruce to return. What's wrong with hoping that he does? It's no worse than 75% of the fanbase swearing that Gruden was going to be our next head football coach imo. You gotta dream big is what I've always been told.

Bill Belichick to Tennessee has a better chance of happening than Bruce Pearl.

Even if Gruden had a 0.00001% chance of happening, that's still a greater likelihood than the return of Pearl.

I like Pearl too, and I hate that we ever lost him. But if a new coach is needed after next year, we'd be much better off to go after another successful mid-major guy with a clean record.

Not saying it's not man. Just saying there is no harm in wanting it to happen.

It is when it's constantly stated. It's like those that "want" Fulmer to come back....it's not going to happen, and I argue it somewhat divides the fanbase by constantly harping on it.

It's pretty obvious to me that some of the ones that keep talking about Pearl coming back have not and will not give Martin a fair chance, nor will they likely give any new coach a fair chance.

It makes it even worse. He's a snitch and ended up getting in trouble for not only cheating, but lying to the NCAA. So he's a liar and a hypocrite with a three year show-cause. How on Earth would he be the lone coach to make it back? Not going to happen.

You must have been miserable during the Bruce Pearl era. All that winning and making the tournament sure is depressing.

I miss him, I missed his passion and his consistent winning. I understand why people don't like him and don't want to hear his name, that's fine. He won't coach here again, he messed up big time and deserved to be fired, but if he did I'd be so happy, just being honest.

I simply stated why he'd never coach here again. Nothing more. You went with the most generic, irrelevant reply though. Pretty cute.

Side note on Bruce, and people can take this with a grain of salt, don't really care whether you believe me or not...as I have no reason to make this up, because it's not even a huge deal, sort of expected in my opinion. I attend University at Buffalo, the coach was fired just this past week. The AD has SEC roots, and one of my good friends is a sports journalist for the university. The AD has a written short-list, and Bruce's name is on it. What does that mean? Could mean absolutely nothing. After all he can't even coach next year. The odds of them even contacting each other could be very slim. The important thing to take from this is that Bruce is being discussed, and he's probably being discussed in other places as well. He won everywhere he went, everywhere. Regardless of the history of show-cause penalties, it isn't crazy to think Bruce can end up at a mid-major right away. Someone will take a chance on him.

Interesting. IMO Bruce will coach again....soon (lol). I would not be surprised if he ends up replacing Pastnor (sp?) at Memphis. If so, I hope we do discontinue our series with Memphis.

Memphis didn't want him BEFORE he got a show cause. What makes you think they'd go after him now?

Once again the extremes are the joke. The ones that can't understand why he is gone and think he is coming back are as bad as the ones that dismiss the 6 yr run we had and how fun it was to watch us play.

I have. Your passion for Cuonzo is disturbing.

Figures. You probably give him baths too.

I don't have a passion for Cuonzo. I do for UT though and it's utterly ridiculous to want to fire a guy before he has even coached his first year like you and the other clowns were wanting. You and the others would run a damn AD in the ground and make Mike Hamilton look like a f'n genius.
