College basketball is dirty. AAU is dirty. Shoe and apparel contracts are dirty. Camps are dirty. Recruiting by highschools starts before middle school for some. Houses are moved into in random neighborhoods, in highschool and college. Some people on here have no idea of the depths and how coaches keep things hidden by playing the "i don't want to know about it" card.
Who really freaking cares that BP had an illegal bbq. I can't imagine someone really would, unless they are just absolutely clueless. BP freaked out and made a dumbass error in judgement when he l
ied to the ncaa. That's about it. People should be mad at him for being a dumbass and ruining a good thing.
So you don't think him being caught for the same violation he committed prior to coming to Tennessee had anything to do with him lying? The BBQ in theory isn't that bad of a violation. It's the fact that he got popped at two different schools doing it...repeat violator. He didn't do it on accident, he knew what he was doing. If your kid does something that's "not so bad", but after being reprimanded turns right around and does it again, you're probably gonna over punish for the violation. Atleast many/most would. Because at that point it's not the crime...it's the principalities of them snubbing their nose at you as a parent/authority figure. It's a real simple concept that I would expect you as a parent to understand.
As for the "little white lie"....well that was more like conspiring to have his entire staff lie along with the parent of Aaron Craft. That's a pretty big deal, and at that time the "simple" repeat offense of the "BBQ" became irrelevant as the lying took his violations to a different level.
So while questioning mine and others intelligence, it's rather disturbing that you don't understand such simple concepts.
A pretty big-time recruit, no?
Not big enough to warrant blatant claims that he has significant questionable recruiting practices in one region of the country. Seriously, one player? Not buying what you're saying. Are you a KY fan? Cause your defending Cal when the destruction that he leaves behind at every program he coaches indicates to many what his practices are.
If you put yourself in the group I question, that's on you. I plenty understand he was a bbq repeat offender. Who gives a rats ass.
And simple concepts? Wtf do you think I don't understand? I spent summers running stuff for coaches and recruits. I don't need anybody to explain anything.
Overall point being, the people who hold Pearl up as some kind of beacon of innocence in a dirty college basketball world are severely mistaken. But either way, the notion of a coach getting hired back at the school where they earned a show cause is laughable to say the least.
Actually you lumped me into that category. Along with anyone who think what Pearl did was wrong. And no...obviously you don't understand the simple concepts I laid out for you. And you don't give a rats ass...what kind of response is that? Basically you don't have a legit, educated response so you come back with the I don't give a rats ass he did it because I'm a UT fan. That's exactly what you're saying. And I don't give a damn how you spent your summers. You are ignorantly side stepping blatant facts.
1) BBQ-although a minor violation it was repeat offense. Any authority figure frowns upon repeat offenders in any walk of life.
2) lying- not only did he lie, but his coaches lied, and he tried to convince the kids parent to lie. Conspiracy is pretty serious.
I'm sorry, but only a Tennessee fan would see nothing wrong with that.

completely emotional and off base.
Did I say what he did wasn't wrong? Point out where. I really despise when people in the ff or bb start on a rant and put in bull**** to try and support their debate. It's epidemic, and you've done it in your last 2 posts.
And my legit, or educated, response doesn't matter to you or anyone else that differs from mine. My opinion also has nothing to do with UT.
I left the coaching business because it was too dirty and political for me to want to continue. I was in the thick of a bunch of bs. Paid my dues as a young coach. Didn't realize what I was into until I was already in. Almost like a cult. Helped set up AAU owned houses in large cities like Orlando, Chicago and Memphis where hs and college athletes could live under the same roof, from money funneled into AAU from various sources that made it illegal, whether shoe reps, alumni, nba players, or whomever. That's just the start.
That's where my response comes from as in I don't give a rats ass about a repeat bbq offense or the other stuff. Maybe I have seen a little more than you, so maybe I have a different perspective.
Never said what he did wasn't wrong though. Just not nearly as bad as what I know.
