The breakdown of what is happening

Seems good except for the mulling over part . He and Hart should be able to come to a conclusion this pm at the latest .

Well CBG is coming in today on a similar timeline as CSS. CSS was in Knoxville from 3ish to 8:30 ish.

So I am sure Dooley will sit down with Hart after that and make their decision. Then inform the candidates tomorrow.

Now your confusing me. You are talking about a deliberate process that doesn't seem to be resolving and then suggest a coach will be in place this weekend.

This has been a deliberate process that has been designed the entire time to have a coach in place at the latest of this Friday.

Now if something major were to happen with CSS or CBG like Dooley seeing a major red flag or one of the candidates changing their mind. This probably has always been the process.

People that think the press conference being pushed back has to do with "Dooley not getting the coach hired as fast as he thought he would" are wrong. He pushed it back because he has been working so hard at the coaching search he doesn't have time to waste on press conference addressing the roster for next years team right now.

I don't doubt DD's diligence. Maybe Green's expertise in 3-4 type schemes will be attractive to Santos once he gets to thinking about it. This kind of development is a good fit for him. Because reading between the lines this is where the process you are describing leads.

Edit: IMO

Dave Hart is no dummy. He has been around the block and understands how this process works. Over the next few years, we will learn to trust Hart. In the meantime, he is having to learn which members of the staff inside the AD and media he can trust in this town. This is the perfect opportunity to feed a little misinformation and see who runs with it. They've had a good idea who the DC was since the week before Wilcox left. If I'm running a multi million dollar operation, and new in town, that's what I'd do.

Or said coach has no interest at all in coaching along side CDD and when CDD calls to throw out some figures said coach claims interest. He gets a free trip to Knoxville. He gets the star treatment and the whole ordeal costs him 8 hrs out of his life. For this 8 hrs he gets a 100,000.00 raise in his current position and tells CDD no thanks. It happens every year all over the country.

Had to chuckle when I read that.

Hiring a defensive coordinator that you are going to pay 6 figures is a tad more tedious than spending 8 bucks on a bucket of slop.

Nothing wrong with Dooley bringing his 2 top candidates (who made it through pre-interview discussions) to Knoxville for in person interviews to help facilitate his final decision.

**** Mike Hamilton. That SOB needs to get punished for what he did to Tennessee Athletics. Someone get an email for that pansy.

How does everyone think Auburn fans felt when they hired Chizik, after he was a failure at Iowa State?
Or how they felt when they hired a, not so long ago removed, high school coach as their O.C.?
It somehow worked out for them for one season and is now falling apart but for the short term, it worked for them. Maybe not all is lost in this hire.

You know what you want or you dont.

Personnally, i dont buy your theory. My name better not end up in the headlines unless i am being offered the job.

You act as if there was logic in this process, when clearly there has been none that a normal person would use. A successful HC would have already planned for Wilcox to be gone before the season started since he had already negotiated with Texas before and expressed a desire to go to the west coast. He had no reason to be here other than a gun for hire. A successful HC would have negotiated a package with a proven coach prior to the end of the 2011 season to be ready to give the recruits what they needed to hear before they made a decision. But then a successful HC would be proactive and think ahead. CDD is a reactive HC on and off the field.

With all due respect, you should stop. You keep posting drivel that is nowhere near the truth. It's ok that you don't know any better.

Dont care who is dogging you out for that comment! That was funny! Too many folks on here with an enourmous torpedo inserted somewhere that must feel really uncomfortable. Sometimes, you have to stop and laugh when nothing positive is going on.

And spicey, original recipe and extra crispy is not a big deal. Right. :acute:

I actually LOL a bit when I typed it. While it's not south beach, my point was it's not on his dime and the whole point of the trip is to get a raise at his current position.

He did not take a 'joy trip' to UTK. Interest is completely genuine and if DD offers him the job after he interviews Green then I think the chances of him accepting it are very high. If we was just interviewing to 'get a raise' then we would have already heard about a salary raise for him at Bama.

So why is Saban "struggling" to find a replacement OC? His OC had accepted the job before the end of the season. I Saban not a successful coach?

So your telling me Narduzzi is out of the picture? Well that sucks!

Also, YorkVol has an excellent point here. Saban just got beat-out by the gators and Muschump for Boise St.'s OC. Whats the explanation to that?
