The bitch thread, what's your beef?

Oh how I don't miss working in a restauraunt for those reasons and a few others--Bad tips for no reason or better yet giving your server a bad tip because you didn't like the food, not my fault the cook did a bad job! But I hear you on the children, its annoying when you have like a large party and the parents let the kids sit at their own separate table---pain in the butt to say the least.

This is why I never had a job like this.

If you see someone sprting an Ohio St shirt, it's safe to assume they're a jerk. :) Or Ohio tags... just kidding Cincy.

Oh I can imagine, people don't stop being stupid just cause they have kids.

OK, I have a beef... parents will back me up on this. People can't drive in a school zone, especially the parents picking up kids. It's like a freaking demolition derby at my kid's school sometimes.

Well I don't know much about school zones, but speeding through through neighborhoods.

#1 really makes me mad. I hate it when traffic is backed up for an exit such as a sporting event or concert and some jerk thinks it's OK to speed past the long line and cut over right at the exit. I hate the people that let them over about as much.

you might want to waste your time, but i don't.

Two weeks ago a crossing guard was killed by a trucker who was speeding through a school zone.

She sacrificed her life to save a little boy walking across the street to school.

I think if you are going to eat out, you should have to experience working in a restaurant. You need to feel the server's pain to understand what all they go through.

Yes. At least for a day. Understand what the hostess goes through, getting yelled at because they said 25-35 minutes for a wait and it has been 26, you said 25 minutes!!!! Understand all the complaining the servers get because the cooks were slow to get the food cooked, or anything else you want to blame the server for---90% of the time not their fault.

I am sure it is. I am not good at customer service, so never chose that route when seeking hourly jobs. I tip well when I eat out...if it is deserved.

Doesn't surprise me. She should get more recognition, I haven't heard about it.

Same here, I'm overly nice sometimes, but if you're rude and I haven't been anything but patient and friendly, then you're tip will suffer.

The left lane is supposed to be used by people passing slower drivers. I learned that you only use that lane as necessary to get around someone, not drive in the left lane to enjoy the scenery.

you obviously don't drive in traffic

People texting while driving.
People that don't let people in/or merge over (like getting in front of one car is going to get you there any quicker)
People that slow down on the acceleration ramp trying to get on the highway.

can you tell I drive a lot?

you're right, me thinking people shouldn't drive slow in the fast lane means I don't drive in traffic.

if there is traffic, everyone is going the same speed.

I'm not talking about getting around on the 5, I'd say all bets are off driving the 5.

All I ask:

keep my drink filled
be courteous
check in with me a few times

Will get nice tip.

Same here. I used to argue with a freind of mine who was a waiter and he would say that you ship tip well no matter what, cause that's their income. I used to laugh and laugh at that.

I know it's a hard job, that's why I'm nice, but some people are just rude. You're not entitled to anything.

I hear ya there. When I drop off mine it's like a racetrack. And the local police don't bother to patrol around the schools, they sit out on the 4-lane 1,000 feet from any school. We have a school zone over a half mile from the school. Why? And they don't bother to make a lap around the school to bust the people zipping around there? I have written letters to the local paper about it too. Nothing changed. I said that God forbid some child gets hit by a car cruising by at 30+ MPH, but if it happens, I hope the parents sue the police department for negligence. This is a problem that has been brought to their attention more than once and nothing has been done to change it. I have been passed by the school bus as I do my 15 MPH. I have seen people pass that same bus after it stops to let kids out. As soon as their child gets out of the car, they take off with no regard to the fact they are still in a school zone.

Generally, people know my family when I come in because I will pay the waitress or waiter a $1.00 for every tea refill they will bring me.

We go to the same place every Saturday morning for breakfast and we have the same waitress. She has our table waiting for us with a pitcher of tea waiting.

I can't stand rude servers either. I can be mean sometimes, but it is because I bartend and it's all in good fun. I pretty much live off my regulars anyways.

Add another one to the list though, servers that can't seem to understand that their drinks are taking a while because I am taking care of three times as many people as they are, and the entire restaurant just ordered a drink.

People that zoom past me then try to get over when the lane is closed and has been for a good year.

So I take it you have driven in Knoxville as well? That's common practice, more like a challenge to see if they can just make it in there. Didn't they pass a law making that a huge fine?

I can sympathize. They make it a one way street in front of my kid's school, and it's just chaos. People trying to pull out of five different places at once, not to mention the speeding.

I have no idea, I used to go through all that in Knox every day when I worked there. Drove me nuts.
