The biggest disappointment...

what makes anyone think he can win in the SEC? In his comments didn't he say in affect he quit to after the interception, something about "even my attitude changed" then. We are stuck, like drowning without a life preserver Neyland is right on.

Because of inexperience and depth we have a 30 minute team when playing a quality opponent. This will expand as they gain experience but there is nothing that can be done about depth. Hopefully we will be at least a 50 minute team by the last four games of the year and get to 6 wins for a chance at a bowl. The fatigue for our guys was evident and fatigue makes quitters of us all(paraphrase). I remember Ranger training when we would go 20 plus hours per day for days on end. Your mind and body begin to betray you and lie to you. These young men experienced a small portion of that last night. Some(hopefully a large number) will learn and expand what they think they can give as the season progresses. My biggest concern is QB. Matt Simms is not the answer but Bray is not ready. Maybe by the end of October but Simms does not even have the confidence of his coaches based on the play calling I saw. However, there is much to be excited about. Poole, Hunter, D. Rogers, Hughes and most of the offensive line are something to be excited about.

I was on the 4th row right behind the bench and the team did not quit (at least the defense didnt). Chris Walker, Gerald Williams, and Hughes were very positive and great leaders on the sideline. Jansen is a great player but he just sits by himself on the sideline and doesnt say anything (no leadership). We were simply overmatched and absolutely exhausted and banged up...

It's like saying that because you know a dozen chords on the guitar that you're ready to go on tour with Metallica. For you to compare what you do with girls' softball to what Dooley and his staff are doing is just plain stupidity.
Are you trying to insinuate being on the Tazewell city council isn't the same as being in the US Senate? That being a substitute teacher at Gresham middle school doesn't give one insight on being a tenured professor at Princeton? That's just crazy talk.

he said the team quit so I am unsure why the brilliant armchair QB's here continue to argue the opposite. As you are fond of saying if Dooley says it, it must be true.

LOL... Hell, with the expertise of our resident little league coaches, I'm surprised they're not throwing their hats in the ring and shooting higher. The NFL is always looking for good coordinators. C'mon guys...

This loss doesn't really hurt that bad, but at the same time...its one of the worst losses I've witnessed. 13-13 at half. and the team did give up I'm afraid.

you must have missed Ole Miss an Va Tech last year , close at the half and land slide from the 3rd forward

I think we didnt quit...we got demoralized and began to completely doubt ourselves. The discouraging part is that all this happened when we were done only 14.

I too am an old Vol fan...born Shelby county in 55 and in Va since 68...Through the years have seen lots of good and bad. What really is upsetting to me is Dooley throwing his team under the bus (after just one bad game) in public calling them quitters and ridiculous. Basically he separated himself from his team pointing the finger at them when it is HIS team. If he wants this team to remain HIS team he best defend them and believe in them in the public and then close the door and rip them new A-holes in private. Because if he continually publicly denounces them, then who do they believe in when the chips are down. There is a reason people love to play for Bobby Cox, this is it.

he didn't throw his team under the bus. he said "we" on several occasions. he didnt point out someone indiviually. what else would you expect him to say?

make them learn their lesson the hard way, up downs and laps and 1,000 pushups until they puke, giving up is not being a tennessee volunteer and giving your all it is being a whiney baby. grow some guys and get fired up next weeks game really matters.

:bad::bad:Yeah, I bet you are a real tough guy that never gives up and always wins wow what a man!!

Outclassed? Really? What is annoying is stupid posts like yours.

:rock:Boy i agree. They played hard till they just plain old wore out. They are down what 12 or 13 players. It's like Dooley said...think what 4 more linebackers, 4 more d linemen and 4 or 5 other players would make. I thought they were well coached....didn't get the silly penalties they used to....just got over whelmed by a very good football team...another year or two and it wont happen. some of the fans on here are just pitiful the way they just give up and whine whine whine. A lot just seem to be just flat dumb. The kind of people that fold easily, but talk a good game.

I am excited about what we could be in another year or two. I also think we have a good chance against Florida next week.

This^^^ Next year is gonna be good, and I'm going to Oregon for a little payback the year after. We gotta find the VOL Spot in Eugene.... and go a little Pale Rider on 'em... (Paint the whole town Orange)

I hope nobody got the idea that I'm a doomer or calling the season lost. I know they were tired. The Oregon O was good at getting back to the line and snapping quick, we weren't deep, and our lack of speed was apparent early on. But we were just down 14 points when you saw the distant look in Simms' eyes and heads down.

I don't think we'll see this again, and I am highly positive about the rest of the season. I still believe we will play Florida well and have a chance to win. Call it demoralized or giving up, but it all adds up to simply wanting to get to the locker room instead of wanting another series to try and score.
