I can take the loss. I'm not happy, but I can take it. What truly got me though was watching that team give up. They simply quit. Call it youngsters being emotional. Call it lack of depth. But the truth of the matter was they simply quit. And because they quit Oregon made us look like fools the whole 2nd half.

They are going to have to toughen up. There were alot of positives to take away from tonight and I feel like we will have a better season than most expect. But all that hinges on our ability to outplay the other team with passion and heart.

How do you coach a team to not give up?

I think you completely missed what happened. They didn't quit. They simply did what we were afraid they would do . . . got overcome by the depth of a quality opponent.

I had a coach tell me a couple of weeks ago that where the depth would hurt us most would be on special teams in the 2nd half. Boy was he right.

I don't know, but CDD better figure it out quick or Florida, LSU, and Alabama will be laugh-ers.

make them learn their lesson the hard way, up downs and laps and 1,000 pushups until they puke, giving up is not being a tennessee volunteer and giving your all it is being a whiney baby. grow some guys and get fired up next weeks game really matters.

They were outclassed on the field and on the sideline, it's becoming repetitive and annoying.

No they quit. The depth showed the last drive before the half we're they scored. But they did quit when Oregon went up 14 points.

This loss doesn't really hurt that bad, but at the same time...its one of the worst losses I've witnessed. 13-13 at half. and the team did give up I'm afraid.

I thnk we lost our fire to compete at that high of a level when we got behind early in the 3rd Q.

Whatever you wanna call it, we had a chance to get back in the ballgame down 14 in the 3rd and just looked lost and down (emotionally), not tired.

Oh, I agree our depth and youth were exposed. But I don't think there's any getting around the fact that after those two big plays the wind was knocked out of them. I even remember people making it a point to mention Hughes still playing with some passion. It was like they just started going through the motions. I know they were worn out and tired, but I still believe they lost their drive.

The tempo the Ducks used on offense gassed our D line. Our guys were not even set half the time when Oregon was hiking the ball in the second half. I think the Vols did about as good as we could expect, although giving up the 70+ yard TD run looked weak.

Give me a break.they DID give up. James Madison didn't have depth and they beat VA Tech. It's about heart. Hell, they gave up in the 3rd qtr.

REMINDER..we played a top 10 program ...we are not a top 30 program right now.
Did they look like they gave up in the 4th yes. Its part of being a young team and learning to overcome adversity. We will get to 6-7 wins this year and next year we contend in the SEC east. Tonights score is no indicator of how close we are on talanet. Just think if we had depth and some fresh legs to make tackles this game is close

depth is right. and pre sec. we will be looking bad by game 5.
This is what I'm really afraid of. By the time we get to some teams in November that we should beat, we may be so beat up that we're a shell of even what we are now.

It certainly looked like they quit. The intensity was not there after the interception. It didn't help that they are a much better team, so any drop off in our level of play was magnified. That was as ugly as the 2007 UF game.

They did not quit, they showed alot of heart considering the hand that was dealt to us. Having tissue-type depth at a snot party versues a top 10 team will empty the tank by halftime.

I saw a lot of guys playing hard. There were some missed plays in there like Art Evans missed broken up pass that resulted in a TD, but I saw effort. I do think that the they got overwhelmed mentally and physically. I would have rather it just been physically...but you could tell they knew what was coming.

They came out flat in the second half . Huge difference in Oregon and TN. Oregon weathered the early storm and then settled into their game plan. That is the benefit of having a team full of seniors (who have been there before).
