Whether Butch can take them to at least the promise land of an SECG remains unseen, but UT football is exciting again.CBS has shown then 3 times and UT gave great showings and actually won one.

It may not should take this long, but it does take baby steps. They weren't competituve with teams from 2010-2013 and now they are and are either winning them or letting teams come back.

Maybe the Brick by Brick mantra is real accurate. We're not going to the top overnight like a flash in the pan, but little by little we climb into the upper echelon of the SEC. We looked just about 1 step out yesterday.

I hope we have a strong run to finish this season, and then make the leap into the fray next year. Heres hoping

We are about to go on a major win streak. Somewhere between 21 to 28 games. Butch is our man. He will get the job done.

Butch has never done anything like this at any of his other coaching stops so I'm not sure why you think he'll be able to do it here.

I hope he can assemble another Top-5 or Top-10 recruiting class!

Butch's high recruiting rankings have been due to having so many recruits. We didn't pull in the # of 5* players that a top 5 ranking would imply. Expect us to finish around 15-20 which would be around 6th or 7th place in the SEC

Rivals, for example, only counts the top 20-ranked recruits per team, so that premise does not hold water. Last year, we had more four-star recruits (16) than anyone in the country. As for five-star recruits, we had two; only Texas A&M, Auburn, FSU and Alabama had more. Furthermore, there are typically only ca. 30-32 five-star recruits per year. If you want to talk about ranking per signee, our average (3.65) trailed only USC, Texas A&M, Ohio State, LSU and Alabama. See Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2014 Team Recruiting Rankings.

I don't know why you keep regurgitating this lie. Rivals only counts the top 20 prospects and we finished #5 the last 2 years. We've also recruited more 5 star recruits the last 2 years (according to Rivals) than every in college football except Alabama, Florida State, and USC.

So what you said is completely FALSE.

Don't forget we also signed 4 5-star recruits in 2015. If you combine 2014 and 2015, we've signed more 5 star recruits than every program in college football except Alabama, Florida State, and USC.

I'd say that makes us definitely ELITE at recruiting.

Im not sure if you are being serious or not, BUT right now his longest winning streak in one season with the Vols is 2, and his longest winning streak carried from one season to another is 3.
He has 6 wins in 23 Reg season games against P5 opponents at UT. BRAKES!

The look on Nick's face Saturday said to me that he thinks our recruits are elite.

Hmm, well I'm sure I don't agree with the premise that we go undefeated for an absurd amount of games, you're logic is just as flawed.

He never recruited a top 10 class at his other coaching stops either. Did that stop him here?

Rivals only calculates their rankings off your top 20 recruits. It's based on cumulative ratings. So, if we sign 30 and another team only signs 25, we're still compared by the top 20 recruits we signed....we don't get "extra points" because we sign more players. I believe this is right and sure someone will correct this if it's inaccurate.

"One major similarity- only the top 20 commitments in each class are considered in the main variable of the formula. Both have bonuses for players ranked nationally, but the new formula accounts for the Rivals250. The old formula had bonuses for the Rivals100."

Edit: sorry for the redundancy. Just saw that 2 other posters made similar points earlier in the thread.
