I think Peyton Manning is the best. Even though Tee Martin led us to a national championship, I still think Peyton is better. I love Tee Martin though & would like to see him come back to Tennessee, but Overall Peyton was the best. What do you all think?

No question, it's Manning. Martin was a good QB on a great team, but Manning was probably one of the top 5 college QBs of all time.

this is a no brainer...Peyton was a better "quarteback" just from a position comparison...no question. w/out him we wouldn't have hand the success we did from 95-97...seting up the run in 98...and in 98, that was a total team effort...there wasn't just one hero out there, there were many...travis henry, al wilson, raynoch thompson, chad clifton, tee martin, peerless price, deon grant etc....no one guy like peyton was....

just win baby.....Peyton better, but Tee was a hell of a leader. Its hard to argue with the one who won it all....but you see which one is still playing!

There are no losers on this board. Both are great QB's with different styles.

Football is a team game and as such championships are won by the team. As far as individual accomplishments go, Peyton Manning was the better quarterback.

If the Vols defense had played in 1997 like they eventually played in 1998, would the Vols have still given up 33 points to Florida and 42 points to Nebraska? The Vols beat 13th rated Georgia 38-13 in 1997. They also beat 24th ranked Southern Miss 44-20. Then they had the come-from-behind win in the SECCG over 11th rated Auburn 30-29.

Did you notice that all those players are having good careers in the NFL except for Tee Martin?

Allvol makes a good point. When people say “Manning couldn’t beat Florida” I don’t remember him being burnt on a post pattern or missing tackles. The defense was a year late in maturing IMHO.

I would take Manning over Tee but that’s also a close call. Tee was a great QB also.

going to a national championship doesnt necessarily make one a better QB. Its not only clear by where they both are today, but Peyton Manning, on the field, is a General at the line. UT was sucessful with Tee because he could use his legs and scramble for 3rd down conv.s

This is a tough argument because both players and their teams were completely different.

Though I cannot see how one can argue against Peyton Manning as a better quarterback. I understand the National Championship with Martin but that was a complete team effort.

Peyton's teams offensively relied on him to the point of being ridiculous. The defenses were good but not on the level of the 98 team.

Martin's teams were run first and Martin's job was to be efficient. No one can argue against the 98 defense though it seemed to be lax in 99. (Perhaps too many players were thinking about the NFL?)

I like Peyton as much as anyone. Tee's leadership and determination aside, UT would still be searching for a (recent),National Championship. Tee deserves his UT accolades.Peyton is reaping his in the NFL.

Most UGA fans don't like Heath Shuler too much after that 4th and 18 pass he completed in '92.

being from and living in Georgia I think UGA fans will say BOBO or Greene. I thought Greene was overrated.

it would be hard to start tee over peyton if they were on the same team. In fact i think fulmer felt the same way which is why he started him over tee.

This really isn't even close.

Peyton is in another dimension from Tee altogether.

It's sort of like asking if you'd rather have Dan Marino or Trent Dilfer. Sure, Dilfer was the QB on the team that won a super bowl. But it's not even worth discussing who the better player is.

Manning. The only thing is he has a hard time getting over the hump for certain things: beating UF and beating the Pats. It was nice to see him lead the Colts past the Pats.
