"The Band Perry" will be the halftime show at Bristol

Seems to me that an event of this magnitude warrants a big-time act rather than a local band that most fans have never heard of and are not likely to ever hear of. It ain't the Super Bowl, but it is the biggest spectacle ever in college football.

They're originally from Ridgeland, Mississippi.

They're originally from Bama. Smart father knew where to go to LOL. They call Greeneville home and usually return about once a year for a free concert to thank the people.

I really like The Band Perry...insanely talented kids, sister & brothers, really thought-provoking song writers...they are good.

Only trouble is, all their best songs do not fit a college football game at all. Like eating a bowl of Chex during a funeral kind of a bad fit. Their best song is about a kid dying young ... nope, can't do that at halftime of the game. How about the guy you broke up with being a lying pos? Nope, that wouldn't go over well, either. Hmm... I'm sure they'll find a song that works okay, but it'll be one most of us never heard of.

So anyway, cool band, love the kids, wrong fit. My view.

All they need is do to a cover of a famous Osborne Brothers song.

How about Sturgill Simpson and some REAL country music and not the douche canoes that make up the Nashville music scene now a days!

They should just have the bands of both schools playing at halftime. I hope College Football isn't starting to do what the NFL is stupidly doing about hiring bands to perform at halftime in the Super Bowl and other big games.

" If the OLine gets beat again, bury them in satin, lay them down on a bed of roses, sink them in the river at dawn, send them away with the words of rocky top, uh oh uh oh."

Well yeah, I'm just pointing out that this is a Grammy-winning band. Pretty nice considering the halftime shows we're all used to at college games don't typically consist of famous bands.

Well, I am pointing out the Grammy awards have been given to some really lame acts. Never heard of this bunch, because I never listen to country music. So, if you think they are good, I hope you enjoy it.

Me? I will be hitting the mute button and getting more beer.

With you on that. I decided not to watch SB halftime show when they threw Madonna's skanky butt out there, and have been using that time to check tire pressure ect. ever since.

Correct. As is, there is concern that the atmosphere won't be much like a college football game. They should be doing things to make it as normal as possible.

Take a minute or two to catch Perry's voice; it's pretty mesmerizing. It's like, you know how distinctive and haunting Stevie Nicks' voice is, and especially was when she was young? Kimberly Perry's voice is very different from Stevie's, but it has that undefinable something unique, too. Worth listening to once, even if you don't like the genre.

On top of which, the harmonies she and her brothers can pull down really are incredible. It's almost like they share genetic makeup. :)

Go Vols!

Yes and they asked crowd to reply Woof Woof. A definite low point in half time shows although I thought the Ohio band was very entertaining.

This is the only time I have ever seen our band get taken to the woodshed.
