maybe when Saban retires, just maybe... would help if we'd quit f'ing around and hire a legitimate big time coach

I saw a twilight zone episode where a guy who had been a gambler had croaked and he was set up with all kinds of games he always won, never lost. Soon he realized he wasn't in heaven but hell. Does saban finally get bored with wins with no chance of losing?

I don't think Saban can quit atp. It is too addictive and too easy for him now. It would take a scandal like Tressel IMO. There are skeletons for days in those closets. Only takes one.

Even if Dabo was convinced to take over from Saban in a few years as good a coach as he is it would be rough at Bama for a minimum of 2 years. TN will not lose to Bama forever. It will end one day soon. If Bama were to win the Natty again this year I would be shocked if Nick decided it was time to step aside and convince Swinney to leave Clemson and take over. Probably what will happen anyway...

We upset Auburn on my birthday. Alabama has an 11 game winning streak. Last time they had that, we upset them in '82. I was born in '82.

Ergo de facto, we beat Alabama. :O

Probably the best hope is the next home game in 2020. Pruitt will have three recruiting classes so that and the home field may give us a chance to be competitive and possibly win.

I doubt it. You really think he would dump TN that quick if Bama offered???? That’s just ridiculous....

I hope present and future Vol players don't have the "It's impossible to beat them EVER attitude" I see from fans.

Not until the Hawaiian QB goes pro.

His brother is already playing HS ball in Birmingham, setting school records and committed to bama. No money was involved with this move to the mainland.

We had a couple of threads re: signature wins in the last day or so.
When this streak ends that will be that coach's signature win, fur shur.

Realistically, 2020. Some of Pruitts recruiting classes will have experience, home game etc. I think we lose by three touchdowns Saturday, make it close next year but seal the deal the next time they come to Neyland.

People are nuts if they think Pruitt would turn Bama down if they offered. I hope he can at least stay a few years, flip the roster and change the culture here first. I dont think Dabo is leaving Clemson. He is God there. It's entirely possible Pruitt will be on Bama's shortlist when the time comes.

Pruitt is the next Bama coach.
The only way they would even consider hiring Pruitt is if within a few years he won the SEC. There's no way in hell they are going to hand over the reigns to a promising but unproven coach or to a coach that hasn't really won anything.

If Alabama did hire Pruitt, then it would mean he did a fantastic job here and exceeded everyone's expectations. That would stink on one hand but be a good thing on the other. We'd be in position to hire a big name coach to replace him.

Unless he wins big at Tennessee, I think Pruitt is way down the list after Dabo, other prominent college coaches, and perhaps even some NFL coaches say no. They are not going to turn the program over to a coach with, say, a .600 winning percentage and no titles of any kind. He's going to have to have an incredible resume.
