What has Pruitt done that's any better than Butch?
Butch recruited well, Butch beat UGA and UF at least a couple times. What is Pruitts big win?

Pruitt's fate is now tied to JGs fate. He pushed all his chips into the middle of the table and decided to ride or die with his senior QB. Well, he died.

You can already see the team is lost. No energy, no fight. JG completely killed the fighting spirit of this team. Delivering gut punch after gut punch to the fan base and more importantly to the team itself.

Where do we go from here? We cannot "pound the run" because our OL isn't that good and our running backs are small. We HAVE TO HAVE good QB play.

But it's more than clear to me now that Tennessee somehow inexplicably has ZERO options at QB. Going into the season I think Shrout was easily considered the 4th QB option behind JG Mauer and HB. But Pruitt went directly to Shrout when he benched JG. How is that? Something smells terrible and clearly this program hasn't been forthcoming with info regarding their QB "competition". This isn't a competition it's a calamity.

So here we go. Just like 2016 all over. The slow decention into madness before UT decides to rebuild once again.

I’m not sure there is a back slide.

Under Pruitt Tennessee has shown they can win some games every year. They have also shown they can lose to lesser talent every year.

They have only gained in total depth and overall talent. Which sounds great....but not if you can’t motivate, if you can’t adjust, and if you can’t coach.

Pruitt is hot garbage.....as a coach.

He won't last as long as Butch did

Apparently QB development just isn't happening. How bad must the backups be if they can't win the position! Georgia's 4th string walk-on was better than our scholarship guys. To be fair with all the covid protocol restrictions , Bailey hasn't had good practice time or a chance to play yet. But no other QB's seem to be getting better so I'm not sure given time he will either if QB coaching is the same.

I hope not.

This is nutz!

People have made excuses over and over and over....I’m tired of the excuses. There isn’t any.......ANY excuse to lose to a lesser quality team, at home, by this margin.

I said the other day in the “pivotal game” thread that yes, this is a must win.

And this is why. Exactly what happened today. Staring down the barrel of 3 straight blowouts and losing the team, and fanbase.

And here comes Bama.......

Pruitt has dug a near insurmountable hole to climb out of, much like last years. Lightning doesn’t often strike twice.

We know that JG peaked about three years ago. Our two backups aren't that great. Georgia's fourth string QB ran the scout team for three years. Our fourth string QB had 10 snaps in practice and a Sunday scrimmage. I agree coaching needs to improve, but only so much coaches can do.

Our coaches are responsible for recruiting and development of these players.

I agree. But five star quarterbacks haven't exactly been lining up to come play for us. HB was the first good qb in a recruiting class in a while. And he was barely a composite five star.

2020 vol football is basically over after this epic debacle. KY may indeed have a solid defense. However, JG has melted down for his final time. Fans will not pay - even 20,000 - to see his kamikaze play. Split time between Shrout and Bailey. Play kids across the board and work toward the future. That is all that can be done. Chaney and the entire offensive staff are on the clock. This effort is inexcusable.
