The Attendance

I was there until after halftime. The girls wanted to head out. One of the girls had a cousin who's husband who played in the flag football game (white tight end wearing orange shorts who got a TD). Didn't mind sharing a blanket with them, and when we left, I wasn't at all upset.

I was there the whole game, thought the weather was pleasant :)

In all seriousness, the crowd was about par for your average O&W game.

I've never stayed for a whole spring game. They're relatively boring, the product on the field is usually not incredibly indicative of what you'll see in the fall, and it's just not that fun at any school I've been to.

left at halftime also. not a good game.. ugly football

I'm glad I stayed, if just for the sequence in the 4th quarter where Simms got called out at the two, had the crowd booing the officials, and then scored the next play. You could tell people were having fun. Also, it was a lot longer trek for me than for most.

Ditto. Was afraid if I didn't leave I was gonna freeze something off I really dont want to lose.Would've been different if we had known there was gonna wind straight off a artic circle iceberg...Maybe if I had another one of those killer long islands from Calhouns.

Why all the love for Bama? We are not Bama or any other team. We are Tennessee. I dont want to be Bama. I am a VOL to the bone but it was cold there yesterday. I had fun but it was cold. When the season comes and the sky starts falling, I will still be at every home game and will cheer my VOLS on. I guess some can only be a fan when their team is winning. That would be a a sad way to be a fan. I am all VOL forever.

We've had a new coach and record attendances the last 2 seasons. It wasn't the same, people were more anxious to get a first look at Satan and Dooley the last 2 years

What section were you sitting in?

I was there also, but it seemed to me like there was more people than the last 4 years Ive been? Maybe past years looked like more because of the construction causing everyone to be on one side instead of spread out like yesterday? Has an official count been released? I left at start of 4th to beat traffic. Had to get to gberg.

I heard the attendance was a little over 20,000. I'm with you, I thought there were more there also than the last couple of years.

Weather definitely sucked. Kids got some great autographs! Got to see a lot of offense(at halftime). Got the best parking spot I have ever had.

Weather today in Alabama...Tornadoe warnings and severe thunderstorms all day. I'll gurantee Bryant Denny is packed or at least has a respectable showing.

ABOVE STATEMENT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE... FROM EARLIER POSTER..
It was bad weather yesterday in Alabama...today it was 54 degrees at kickoff for their game with very windy conditions...might have been a bit colder in Tennessee but not much..
people make way too much out of spring game good and bad and all the other things..
its glorified scrimmage.....i wouldn't go to one if you paid me unless my kid was playing...complete waste of time...

All this talk on here over 1 spring game.
wow

so let's crown Bammer champs because they had a bunch of people there... UT will just accept a 3-8 record and we won't have to play the season

First of all, if you love football, you'll use any excuse to tailgate and watch football.

But, there was added incentive...the Walk of Fame ceremony with the hands and footprints of team captains at Denny Chimes...the statue unveiling...and we have perhaps the biggest qb competition in the nation on our hands and it was the first chance for us to see them.

But most importantly...recruits. Saban said from that very first spring game in 2007 when he got here that that spring game of 92,000+ influenced a lot of recruits...who you might ask was there? Oh, just Julio Jones, Mark Ingram and Marcel Dareus to name a few.

Bama got a committment Saturday from a stud recruit.

And the visitor's list of recruits that was there Saturday reads like a who's who of what will be the Rivals and Scouts top 250 recruits list when it comes out.

Trust me, it makes a difference when they see that support. You get to create a gameday-type atmosphere for them in the middle of Spring.

Bama always has players commit on A-Day every year.

It doesn't hurt.

And yes, during the Shula years we didn't have 92,000 at A-Day...it averaged more like 40,000.

The Vols are going through something similar...but you guys will get there in time...you can't keep a good historical program like Tenn. down for long.

But don't disregard the importance of a Spring game...it shows dividends in your recruiting, it has ours.

It's being reported that y'all had 35,800 over here on my local radio show. That's pretty solid all things considering. Weather, practice game, ect ect.

Could be worse. Baylor had 10% of that.

It might be a lie... or it's counting concessions and the people walking by the stadium. Hammy is known for fudging the numbers sometimes.

When Fulmer was having his bad year in 2008 before he was fired, the stadium looked about half full and they would claim over 90,000 in attendance.
