Thats what the game in Bristol will encompass. I've volunteered at that race track before. Great atmosphere and add UT football to that mix! And their opponent is another team from the same Appalachian region with a great deal of their own traditions.

Its just going to be a beautiful experience. I envy you all that are going.

Well, hopefully the atmosphere at Bristol will be oxygen/nitrogen based with the usual trace gases.

If that suddenly and radically changes, I doubt you will envy them then.

Bristol is fine and there a ton of people that would prefer to live somewhere like here. In fact, there is a reason this is one of the fastest growing areas in the country for population and it's not just the lack of income tax. A lot of people don't like larger cities like San Diego, even if it has some beautiful areas around, and LittleVol was just talking about how awesome this area of the country is. Let him have his say.

From Blue Ridge mountains through Shenandoah Valley up to DC, its just peace on Earth. I love the mountains out here too, but Appalachia is more ancient and even mystical in a lot of ways.

I've learn to enjoy places for what they are and not compare.

Damn I wish I could go to that game. Dobbs is gonna put on a show!!

So many good views there. Me and a girl I was datin used to hike the smokies a lot, until I left.

I'm a big fiction/fantasy reader. And if the Smokies doesn't have some type of spiritual magic about it, then I don't know what does.
Some places there are so... prestine. Lol

Anyway... I believe this is a special special season. And it will start in Bristol. App State is first i know. And that will be a good game as well.

So a couple of years ago I was on the ramp at Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona. At midday on the concrete the temperature was like 130 degrees. I go in my car to over night in San Diego. Two hour drive and got there around 4PM. It was 76 degrees and sunny.

It's about 76 degrees and sunny about every time I go to San Diego. If the place wasn't full of a bunch of damn Californians it would be really nice.

Funny enough, there's a good amount of people from middle Tennessee that have moved here.
A lot of people from Arizona too.
Yeah it was hot today...,about 85 but most of the time its about 76.

To keep the NASCAR fans happy...the POSB better learn a routine that circles counter clockwise, and repeat it 500 times.

That would be a really cool halftime show idea...form the band up into an oval, and have a couple of tuba players running around inside it, 'racing'. :)

Lewis Black has a good routine about how a TV weather man in San Diego has to be the best job.

Anchor: "Let's check in with Greg for that San Diego forecast. Greg, what's it look like out there?"

Greg: "Well,tomorrow's weather: nice. Back to you."

Born in New York, grew up in Bristol and now live in North Carolina. Been to Canada and Mexico multiple times, west coast, east coast out of the country numerous trips. East Tennessee is special whether it's Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City, Elizabethton or Knoxville.
If the rednecks bother you then go hang out with one of the other stereotypical groups that you do like in some other place. They're in every locale you pick. Me....? If I'm breathing, I'll be at that game along with a slew of my old buds that are coming in from all over the country so that when we're old and sucking on an oxygen mask we can say... "Hell Yeah! I was there...."

In North Carolina now but they'll bury me in that redneck dirt of Northeast Tennessee.

I grew up in Union Co and went to UT. I have always said I spent the first 24 years trying to figure out how to get the hell outta there and the rest of the time trying to figure out how to get back. I will in fact be at Bristol this fall as I am every year. But it will be next weekend not in Sept
