The Atlanta Braves

how’s life in sunny Vermont or wherever it was my locks got you
Thanks to your locks and some well placed DOGE calls, I am looking out the window at 14 inches of snow on the ground with another 6 or so on the way (I view that as a positive).

I still lurk and listen to certain podcasts. Having a position in an AD I feel guilty posting on another schools forums so I try and not login often. But once the season fires up that may change

Pitching scenario so bad that Bowman Avi had to make a Betemit-Furcal science experiment out of a 19-yr-old with “man, imagine if can hit for pop!” expectations.
Come on I know Bowman isn't everyone's favorite but Gil is getting major attention. 19yo Non Roster Invitee.

Most already have him as the #1 position prospect in the organization and could skyrocket up through the minors reminiscent of Andruw Jones.

So sick of these dudes making all the excuses in the world as to "Why being mid is good actually!"

So at this point we are looking at a rotation of:

Sale
Strider
Holmes
López
Elder

We’ll never make it thru the season with all 5 of them staying healthy. I hope Ritchie can make a big jump like Waldrep did last year. I guess AA is going to wait till all the starter options are gone.

I actually think Martin Perez is going to make the rotation out of ST. Over the last 6 years he has been super reliable to give you a lot of innings and an ERA of 4.50 or lower. I'm not super excited over that, but it would actually be an improvement over Elder.

Ritchie, Fuentes, and Sinnard are our best options internally to make an impact this year. Fuentes has the most talent if he can put it together. Making the majors roughly a week after your 20th Bday is no small task. Ritchie is the most ML ready.

We are really desperate for another starter though. I don't know that Lopez will ever be the same again. And even if he does regain what he had, it would be a small miracle if he throws more than 130 innings. Same for Holmes.

Someone pointed this out on another site and it is really depressing:

If you remove Murphy, Olson, Profar and Kim off the 2026 payroll, we would have just enough money to cover FF, Swanson, and Fried's contracts in 2026. And we would still have Bill and Shea at catcher/DH, along with Drake.

You're missing the point though...nobody would know how smart and shrewd AA is if we had kept those guys.

Olson has been great. But not bringing back Freeman is unforgiveable at this point. We're paying Olson roughly the same at Freeman and they've been pretty equal in terms of production. And that's without getting into Freeman being a franchise icon. On top of that, Shea Langeliers has turned into a 3-4 WAR catcher.

It's hard to envision AA lasting beyond this season if we don't make the playoffs. You can't have one of the highest payrolls in the game and miss the playoffs 2 years in a row, along with not winning a playoff series since winning the WS.

For reference, in regards to a timeline.

Rodón was operated on by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Wednesday to remove loose bodies in his left elbow and shave a bone spur. He has eight weeks of no throwing, and the start of his season is expected to be delayed by a couple of weeks, Boone said.
