The Atlanta Braves

Honest question - is there some kind of a rift between Cig and Saban? Or were they just not particularly close when Cig was at Alabama?

You can just tell that there's a different dynamic there between him and Cig and him and other assistants who worked for him - definitely Kirby but also Sark and even Kiffin. There's a warmness/familiarity there that doesn't seem to be there with Cig.
I think they’re two peas from the same pod.

Cignetti comes off as a little bit of a strange dude. May just be a personality thing. I could envision a conversation between him and Saban being hilariously awkward.

True, although the same can be said for Kirby.

Now that I think about it there's a mentor/mentee relationship between Saban and Kirby/Sark/Kiffin. Kirby worked under him for years and Sark/Kiffin went to rehab there. Cig worked on Saban's first Alabama staff then left after a few years to take a HC job. Maybe there's no mutual dislike but just don't have the closer relationship because of the circumstances.

I know this is an anti GMac thread, but Owings is a big time hire for a guy like him.

Hopefully not getting bullied in the trenches anymore.
Do we know this guy is actually good? I was under the impression these Indiana teams bullied guys in the trenches because they're 22 years old playing against 19-year olds.

Overall, Owings has helped his programs to a 64-9 overall record in his six seasons and trained over 25 All-America selections and numerous first-team all-conference picks.

His Indiana bio page also says he was Heupel's assistant director of sports performance in his first season at UCF. Went to Texas Tech, JMU, then Indiana after that.
