Triple bump. Maybe the lost elaborate scam I’ve ever seen. But, scam.Double bump. I purchased the tix through PayPal as Goods and Services, or friends and family. I have mutual friends of the man. I’ve still yet to receive the tix, but he has my money. He is in daily contact with me. He has offered to speak with the UT ticket office with me to try and get it figured out. But it’s always “the next day” and I’m getting beyond frustrated. I’ve spoken with him on the phone often. He continuously text me about the games, recommendations for things to do when we had a tourney in Gallatin (which is where we stayed), and he’s always kind. His father is a missionary in Ghana, and he is the one who actually owns the tix (not a made up story, as bad as it sounds). I’m at a loss of what to do. He’s not avoiding me. We’re friends on FB. But it’s getting old. Not sure how to get my $ back either if he tries to pull some stuff on me. Any advice?
I mean, it sounds like you have some level of personal knowledge of this guy but have you tried Facebook resale groups? They are obviously littered with scammers but for Grizzlies tickets, there are verified season ticket holders/resellers and people have had great experiences that way. I’ve never looked into anything similar for Tennessee tickets but I imagine it exists.I have. Hopefully it gets resolved. Thanks for looking out! It’s a bummer, but it’s the nature of the ticker world right now. They gotta figure out something with scammers and scalpers.
That’s where I found this guy. On one of those groups. Also, he claims he is trying to send the money back on Venmo so it doesn’t charge him a fee on PayPal. Is that an obvious “no-no?” He just reached back out to give my $ back. I’m worried though that if it doesn’t go back through PayPal that it will screw me over.I mean, it sounds like you have some level of personal knowledge of this guy but have you tried Facebook resale groups? No 3rd party fees. The real crime.
