If the bases are loaded in the 2nd inning, and you have +range middle infielders like Swanson and Albies, you shade instead of shift. The ability to turn a double play, even at the expense of a run scored, is huge right there.
But this would require humans with baseball experience to have the balls to tell the nerds with MIT degrees to get bent for an at bat or two.
