Very well could be, especially with Oregon also on a first-year head coach. There hasn't been a clear leader in that conference even with USC down...Oregon, Utah, Washington, Stanford have been good/great at various points but nobody runs the show.

ESPN has a top 100 players list. Chipper was something like 80 and Ortiz was 10 spots or so higher or lower (65 or something). I'm not a huge baseball fan, but Chipper was better than Ortiz, and it doesn't feel particularly close in my head.

If Chipper had the benefit of being a DH his entire career he’d be putting up .800 OPS seasons till he was 47
