Will prob get flamed, but here goes.
I don’t doubt for a second that people go through mental issues. It’s been well-documented how she was abused by the Mich St trainer and came from a rough background.

Having said that, I’d be lying if I said the timing wasn’t interesting. She’s been incredibly hyped by the media in anticipation of these Olympics, especially on social media. It also wasn’t going quite as good as was expected, and she bails before a team event.

Politically incorrect yes, but I think it looks bad.

I totally agree, but I think you just have to take her at her word and move on.

It's beyond bizarre; especially since she's been there before and knows the drill, but I'm sure everybody that has ever had any sort of mental health issue would control the timing of it if they could.

Biles has also been a part of two previous teams that won gold. I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt. And she came out and took responsibility and explained herself.

Another observation - many in the media do seem to want to give Biles a benefit of the doubt (which she is deserving of) that I'm not sure they would give to many others in a similar position. If you Google her name, there are already a bunch of thinkpieces ripping the notion of wondering why she withdrew and going after various Twitter trolls/Piers Morgan for their comments.

If Tom Brady took himself out of the Super Bowl last year because he "was not in the right headspace, and I am not going to lose a Super Bowl for this team and these guys because they've worked way too hard," he would be shredded into 1000 pieces instantaneously.

I get your point but I’m assuming you don’t have all of the information here. She didn’t even set out to attempt her normal vault and then didn’t even do the vault she attempted. She single handedly put USA in a >1 point deficit after vault. If she continued without a significant rally then they probably wouldn’t have medaled.
