Did MLB not pay attention to anything the NFL and or the Southeastern Conference and most of college football was able to do?

Just saw where the Southern Conference is not going to allow fans at the first two football games this spring. The SoCon had this one chance to gain some fans while they weren't going up against games from Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama and they are throwing it away.
