There HAS TO BE some form of accountability for umpires and referees. What an absolute chickensht inning

Is there something in their deal with the union that makes it really difficult for the league to suspend umpires? Only thing I can figure. Joe West got suspended a game for bumping Jonathan Papelbon after he did his crotch grab, and Bob Davidson got suspended a game for "repeated violations of the Office of the Commissioner's standards for situation handling" (straw that broke the camel's back was a confrontation with Charlie Manuel), but that's all I can remember.

An even bigger problem than the blown calls is how belligerent they are. And it isn't a recent phenomenon. Been that way for years.
