My thinking is fans are starting to hype themselves into maybe getting Harper or Machado and Bowman is trying to calm people saying that won’t happen. They still should have $30M minimum to work with.

My guess is they may try to trade Teheran to a borderline playoff team who has a surplus of infielders/bench bats. Basically just to trade money.

Then I’d really like to package some prospects together to either acquire a top ACE or a top 3B/CF.

Can someone please explain to me the difference/rules in the July 31st deadline and placing someone on waivers right now?

July 31st is the nonwaiver deadline when teams can trade to anyone. Aug 31 is the waiver deadline meaning players have to be exposed to the waiver wire and teams claim them in reverse order of the standings. Then once a claim is made, the two teams either work out a deal or the player goes back to his current team.
