Crompdaddy also had 27 TDs in his senior season on 384 attempts. JG had 38 for his entire career on 808 attempts. If Crompton had just adequate coaching for his entire career, he could have been a pretty productive player. I agree with FS that him getting drafted in the 5th round was a crazy good coaching job.Crompton was simply awful. He had 3 or 4 good games under Kiffin but mainly just stopped being a liability. The amazing thing about Crompton is that his career passer rating is a full 10 points less than JG and he actually threw more picks than JG despite a lot less throws.
JG was always limited in what he could do pushing the ball down the field, but earlier in his career he was far from a turnover machine. He didn't truly become reckless with the football until late 2019/2020. At the end of his 2018 season, JG had thrown only 5 picks but also had only 16 TDs in 385 attempts. JG's offensive output, even before he started throwing all the INTs, was anemic.
