I said some players care. It's more about the viewership. I'm pretty sure most American viewers don't watch/care.

I am very anti gatekeeping fandom in general but I feel comfortable suggesting that if someone does not watch the WBC, that someone is way closer to casual or not a baseball fan than to loving baseball.

I think the general baseball loving population in the USA doesn't care. Just give us the regular MLB season. WBC feels like another All star game that nobody wants.

I don’t disagree with you in general but it is growing in popularity in the states, probably because it isn’t a forgone conclusion we’re going to win anymore.

On a personal level though, I will never forget that Trea Turner grand slam. Electric factory.

Yes, but also the camera is significantly rotated. Look how much of the umpire you can see in each graphic, even if he were as open as it appears his first step is going to close him into the exact same position.
