Bow says Murphy will be out going into May

The trade that keeps on giving
I was driving the train to trade him last July. There was zero benefit to keeping him. Some contender would have easily given us multiple top 100 prospects for him when he was either leading or nearly leading all NL catchers in fWAR. Now he probably has negative value.

Going from that nearly-leading status to perceived negative value this quickly makes ya wonder how easily you'd have gotten multiple top 100 prospects in return.

Well that's what happens when you aggravate an existing injury, suck for the next month and half, and then elect to have surgery that keeps you out for half of the next season. Maybe negative value is a bit much, but he certainly doesn't hold much value currently.

There were known to be several teams looking for an upgrade at catcher and needing offense. Murphy, when he was rocking a .800-.850 OPS during the month of July would have been the 2nd best hitter traded at the deadline, and by far the best available catcher.

If by driving the train you mean moaning exactly how everyone else was, then sure conductor, lead the way.

The same farm that gave us ROTY Drake Baldwin!

They’re consistently wrong about what the Braves have. It’s not a top 10, but it’s better than bottom 5.
Agreed. I like several of our hitters in the lower levels, and only a couple of them get ranked inside our top 20, despite having higher ceilings than several of the guys ahead of them.

John Gil in particular is a guy I think could really break out this year. He sort of had a mini breakout last year after the he returned from injury.
