The Atlanta Braves Thread

The bigger story is that Ohtani has an opt out if Walter ever sells.
He says he would not opt out, but he would be crazy not to. And I am sure will get pressure form the MLBPA to exercise it given the labor negotiations.

680 million in deferred money is guaranteed no matter what. He could easily get a $500+ million contract if he were a FA this winter.

They seem to be approaching it as a story for the business or finance press to cover, which it certainly is, but there’s also the obvious story of did Walter use shady (or potentially even illegal) transactions in order not only to be able to afford the massive contracts they’ve doled out, but buy the team in the first place. And there’s obvious implications if he’s forced to sell (Ohtani opt out option, their gravy train over if he gets busted with something, etc)

The lead is 5.5 and to be quite frank, I don't think this is a good baseball team right now!
It's one of the stranger teams I can ever remember. They seem to all get hot and cold at the same time and the highs seem completely abnormal for the actual talent level. No way these guys should be playing .600 baseball with Riley, Murphy, Acuna, Strider, AJSS, Kim, giving them basically nothing.
