You can only be the hot name for so long. Gotta jump while you can, I can remember when Shaka Smart was gonna be the next coach K.

I dunno man...for every coach who flames out it seems like there is a guy who keeps that flame burning for way longer than it should have. I think Shaka is still living to a certain degree off that FF run in 2011. A lot of people thought Gus Malzahn was still a great offensive mind until like 2 years ago based on what he did in 2010 and 2013 at Auburn. PSU is a pretty good job for a guy whose star doesn't shine as brightly.

They had no plan after Cignetti re-signed with Indiana and had a John Currie moment.

Unfortunately, unlike us, the 7th or 8th guy they reached out to is actually a good coach who surprisingly was willing to leave his current job. They really lucked out.
