The Atlanta Braves Thread

Have y'all being keeping up with any of this Carolina Hurricanes/Montreal Canadiens situation? It's some pretty epic, petty, trolling by the Hurricanes. :D:D

The most amazing thing to me about EB's career is that none of those defenses he played on, especially the 2008 and 2009 teams, were great defenses, and the nature of the position he played allowed for defenses to focus on the side of the field that he wasn't on. Yet that didn't stop him from being a great player.

It looks like the Canadiens have to let him go or risk being over the Salary cap. Carolina comes to Montreal in Oct. would love to go to that game.

Riley makes 'legit' MVP case in key series W

Riley leads the National League with a .359 batting average since the All-Star break. He ranks second in homers to Joey Votto (17) and his 1.091 OPS ranks third, trailing only Bryce Harper (1.192) and Juan Soto (1.162) within this span.

Still not Getting MVP votes according to some 😄
He has been on fire since the break. No doubt.

I really wish Yzerman and the Wings had done something like this with a young center and make a team match.

I think 07 was the bad defense. The 08 defense was like legit awesome I thought. Might have been our last great defense lol

I love Riley. He’s been great. He is still 14th in WAR in the NL by Fangraphs and 7th in Base ref.

I do wish we could better figure out defensive stats. Baseball Savant has Riley as terrible…Fangraphs has him as “meh”…and DRS has him as plus…

I don't remember any of them being great - going back and looking at the results I guess maybe the 2008 defense was better than I thought; the completely inept offense is the reason that team sucked. I still have visions of Dexter McCluster running all over the 2009 defense.

Hell man, our last great defense was probably 2001 (and it wasn't even as good as it probably should have been). 2 DTs taken within the first 15 picks of the 2002 draft. Sad!

Phillies remaining schedule

3 @ WSH
3 @ Miami
3 @ MIL
4 vs Colorado
3 vs Cubs
3 @ NYM
3 vs BAL
4 vs Pitt
3 @ ATL
3 @ Miami

Man that is pretty easy

I looked and that 08 defense was actually incredible. 10th in PPG, 3rd in YPG, 3rd in YPP, 16th in first Downs allowed, 4th in Pass Yards per game.
