I guess I just looked at the size and talent of their front seven vs. the size and talent of our offensive line and thought, "We're bigger and stronger than them and we should dominate their defensive front." It shouldn't have mattered whether we ran from the I, the pistol, or the shotgun - but obviously it actually did (among other things).

I don't feel like we tried to exploit that advantage at all. And annoyingly, I feel like we didn't try to exploit it because we were trying to run an offense for which we don't have the personnel. I defecate in Butch Jones's general direction.

Oh, I'm by no means throwing in the towel on Jones yet, but I'm hugely disappointed that he didn't even appear to try to win the game by running the damn ball behind his OL full of NFL prospects. Great coaches tailor what they want to do to the players they happen to have. Butch didn't.

Yeah, there are a few things I'm questioning now. That obviously being one of them.

And yes, I know it was one game and I fully expected us to lose handily. No I don't want Butch gone lol.

Yep, this game should be seen as nothing more than a learning experience. Butch can't have that happen again.

Hilarious.. I use to think hitting was the tougher thing in sports. Turns out punching May is the hardest thing to do

It could be that, but I think, based on Worley's play in the first three games, that maybe the competition was just easier for him to win. Things like being able to grasp the playbook, getting guys lined up, checking to other plays would have almost certainly been easier for Worley. His ability to lead the other guys would also be easier due to his experience and tenure. If you also throw in the possibility that he may have gotten more time with the first team to polish his practice skills then his advantage becomes pretty clear.

Given that the freshmen were certainly going to struggle adjusting to campus life and that they were late to the competition, the chances were slim.

Peterman may just be better in games than practice, which also showed at the open scrimmage.
