It's not the dollars, it's the number of years. I haven't actually looked at the rosters of the rich AL teams to see who needs what, but his value is so much higher over there that I can't see there being anywhere even sort of in the middle that makes sense for both him and the Braves. An AL team could start cutting his catching back immediately, prolong his career, and get a tremendous amount of value out of him for years. He's useless to the Braves unless he's behind the dish, which probably dooms him to breaking down that much faster. He's got a much higher chance of being valuable to an AL team in years 4 and 5 than he would the Braves.

It's not that. But I over think it and try too hard on it instead of giving them the whole "blah blah blah education is important" speech.

My essay was a dissertation on whipping others' asses at golf. I kind of enjoyed it
