What happens when Acuna comes up? Markakis to the bench?

Goes without saying but Acuna is real deal. Saw him play when he was 15-16 in Venezuela and he was man among boys even then. You guys got something real special I think.

There are 3 ways to handle Preston Tucker being good and two of them are bad.

1) Keep Acuna down longer.
2) Bench Tucker, bring Acuna up.
3) Trade Markakis, move Tucker to RF and bring Acuna up. (should be the no brainer)

The issue is there seems to be no market for Markakis. Even if the Braves would be willing to take half his salary this year idk if anyone would make a deal for him

I don’t know. He has value. He shouldn’t be batting fourth but he’s a good 5th or 6th guy on a good team.

I would think so but who knows. Hard to sell an OF with lil pop in today’s game even with a .340-.350 OBP

I mean the Braves were willing to move Freeman to third for freaking Matt Adams maybe they do the same for Tucker and move him to 1st lol

I could see some team around the deadline maybe getting him if they have injuries or what not but idk. Atlanta hasn’t really shopped him around so idk who would want him

I think so. He never has gotten consistent playing time in the majors. He changed his swing last year. Fourth round pick with a solid college pedigree. Has raked in the minors. Just 27. We’ve seen more and more mid 20’s guy find their groove the last decade or so (Batista, Turner to name a couple) and I love his swing and plate discipline his first two series

I’m buying in then. Partly because I’m just kinda sick of looking at Markakis.

Sold? No. But the bar in the Atlanta OF has been so low for so long that it’s worth giving him extended run.

He had a hot streak in Houston and has some good minor league seasons to his name.

Somebody would take markakis for nothing if the Braves eat half the salary. Idk how he would take it but he could also be a 4th OF. Acuna and Inciarte are both capable of playing CF. Makes no sense to roster him as that though unless you’re actually in it. He’d be a very very valuable PH.

He seems like a decent team guy so maybe he’d be okay with it. I gotta think a contender would take him in July and pay the remaining couple mil just to have in case (maybe if the Giants are better than I think or like a surprise team)

He has like a .830 career OPS in the minors. The guy can hit. He just needs to play everyday. At the very least he looks like a decent platoon option in left. Maybe if Peterson is healthy they could form a good platoon
