The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness

#1 defensive team in the country in KenPom. I think they are elite defensively. The only games where I thought the defense wasn't all that good was the 2 games against UK. I thought they were awesome against UF the second game (and pretty good the first), awesome against Auburn, Miss St, etc.

You said it yourself though...they aren't a good shooting team, which keeps them from being an elite team. They will be a trendy upset pick in the NCAAT, and rightly so because of that.
I just hope Barned adjusts with Shak..... Teams basically ignore him and let Ziegler gets what he wants. Stop the other 3 and we are screwed.

Blame MLB and Manfred for getting rid of any sort residue on your hands. They created a problem that no one cared about. Like who really cares if they use a little rosin and sunscreen? Obviously, police the super sticky stuff but go back to how it was 6 years ago.
lol. They can’t balls and strikes but you want them to toe the line between what’s regular sticky and what’s super sticky?

That spider tack or whatever it was called was pretty blatant. I recall a seeing a highlight a few years ago where a pitch ended up sticking to Molinas catching gear like it was velcro. Other substances like vaseline are easy to catch as well.

Mostly just police egregious violations. Pitchers won't be force to throw was hard to get movement. And it'll save more arms.

We're an elite defensive team, and they've more than gotten the better of our defense in both games.
The problem is, Pope has Scrapped together about 9-10 average players and runs great offense and gets dudes open shots regularly. Hes only going to get better with more talent so that’s concerning

...and was thought of as a bad (or underwhelming) hire at the time. Go figure.

The next time Jordan Gainey makes 4 threes in a game will be the first time Jordan Gainey makes 4 threes in a game. He is a black hole on offense and he is lazy, at best, on defense. He’s a borderline D1 player.

What’s sad is he actually is better than last year. But yeah man he should be your 11th guy, not 6th.

I didn't realize how brutal the Braves schedule was to start the year. Pads/LAD back to back on the road. A bit of a break with the Marlins, then Phillies at home, fly to Tampa and then an immediate flight to Toronto the to play the following day. And we close out the month on a west coast trip (where we always struggle). Even as good of a team as we have, we would do well to be more than 2- 3 games over .500 on May 1.

In years past, our early season schedule had allowed us to only carry 4 SPs for most of the month of April. We always seemed to have every 5th day off. Well that isn't the case this year. It's trial by fire right out of the gate.
