Our 2nd line offense has been a HUGE downfall this year. Turris has sucked. Smith hasn’t had anything fall for him. Fiala was wildly inconsistent. Jarnkrok needs to shoot more but won’t. Bonino has played good but he isn’t a strong offensive player. Same with Sissons. PK and Ellis have had no offensive production. Just a mess this year on offense.

Yeah PL has been worse this year. Seems like the puck just doesn’t move like it should. Also, I’m not a hockey expert but seems like if your first line center doesn’t want to shoot the puck that’s not great

Joey doesn’t shoot the puck like he should, but he literally does everything else so well that it makes up for it. Forsberg and Arvy shoot it so much and so well that he almost doesn’t need to (not that he shouldn’t shoot it more). Yeah, the offense doesn’t move it well. Not nearly like they have the past two seasons.

I actually thought it was so obvious that it hit off the guy’s shoulder that they wouldn’t have any choice. Close obviously goes to Big Blue but I didn’t think it was close. Serves me right for letting my cynicism slip a little.

You know as well as anyone playoff hockey can’t be predicted.

Obviously not, but emotionally I feel like if the Caps can win surely the Blues are up soon. Those two franchises have had a similar level and length of suffering. I had a great time drinking in a Blues bar in Columbia during my lost year up in Missouri 30 years ago; if I’d stayed longer I’d have probably ended up a lifelong fan of them instead of the Caps.

If I had to make an actual prediction then obviously Tampa is far and away the best team, which of course means they’ll probably bounce out in the first two rounds. Pittsburgh will sneak in with the 8 seed, beat Tampa and go on to win again. You heard it here first.

Oh I said earlier you’re the best team in hockey right now. It’s 1000% true. Any team that allows under 2 goals a game is going to DOMINATE, which you are. I don’t want to play the Blues in the first round. Hoping like hell you play the Jets and y’all beat up on each other.

I am warming to this idea of a 10 pitcher roster limit. Just that one change would fix a lot of what sucks.

I kinda like the premise of it. It's gotten completely ridiculous having a "specialist" come in and throw one pitch them switch pitchers. No reason 7-8 innings should be taking as long to be played.

Which seems to go against the pace of play issue. More offense = longer games.

538 did a pretty good write up that foul balls, not pitchers, are to blame for a lot of the issue. I can’t imagine a 3 batter minimum fixes that.

Why dick around with the rules when you can get a lot of what you want just by making the parade of disposable one-inning-or-less guys impractical? I’m old enough to remember when everybody carried 10 pitchers and it was great.

Also I’ve never really understood roster limits in any sports. The NBA has it right - more than enough guys to build a bench.

The NFL and MLB are too tight.
