Bryce Elder has thrown 230 innings since ASB 2023. He now has a 5.99 ERA

To give that perspective, the only pitcher to have 200 innings in a season and have a worse ERA since INTEGRATION is Pedro Astacio in 1998 and that was peak Colorado.

Since the ASB 2023, Bryce Elder (among pitchers with 200 innings) has the worst ERA in baseball by more than half a run (Reid Detmers, 200 IP, 5.44 ERA). If you drop the minimum to 100 innings, Elder is 4th behind Antonio Senzatela, Carlos Carrasco (!!!) and Ty Blach.

We have given 44 starts to the worst pitcher in baseball for over two years.

Eric Hartman had 2 more hits and 2 more steals last night for Augusta in a loss. He had 2 of the 3 hits for Augusta and a run scored. Southisene had the other lone hit, the first hit of his professional career.

In Rome, Sinnard pitched an absolute gem: 5 IP, 8 K's, 1 BB, 2 H, 0 ER. Braunschweig stayed hot with another hit, SB, and 2 runs scored. This kid could be a dude. I know he's a college hitter so in some ways he should be hitting well in this league, but he has looked really good so far and reportedly with elite EVs.

David McCabe homered in his first game in Gwinnett. This kid can hit. Probably a 1b/DH only, but he can hit. Maybe he could be a Ryan Mountcastle type of player.

It’s bizarre. I know we’re hunting for warm bodies to give us innings but I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a more clear cut case of a guy that doesn’t belong.

On Eric Hartman:

“Hartman has a .419 on base percentage and is perfect on his nine stolen base attempts this month. His on base percentage is up to .361 on the season, and if he can maintain that it’s a mark only reached by a Braves teenager at this level four other times in the past 20 years — Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward, Ozzie Albies, and unfortunately also Braxton Davidson.”

Found this interesting and surprising. He’s got a much different profile from Braxton Davidson so I’d lean more positive on this and just a random coincidence. Davidson’s whole approach was patient without a cause.

Harris went from having the worst OPS among all major-league qualifiers before the All-Star break to having the third-highest since.

Supposedly Hyers was trying to get him to change his stance a lot earlier but Harris wasn't receptive. So there is probably some trust issues there with Hyers being the new guy. Or maybe Hyers just couldn't explain it as well as Chipper, who knows more about hitting than probably anyone else associated with the Braves franchise.
