The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

Yes true, but imagine having a team with William Contreras, Shea Langeliers and Freddie Freeman!
Absolutely no issue with Langeliers for Olson trade.

Or trading Willy for someone that actually made a difference and having Drake as well!
Drake Baldwin was nothing when Contreras was traded.

THE mistake, among many, was the Contreras for Murphy trade and the subsequent fall out. Really the entire 2022 offseason. As I stated (and was attempted to be ridiculed for!) at the time. Thank you for *almost* catching up.

I've said this before, but imagine they give Freddie the $150M, don't acquire Iglesias' contact and use the prospect capital to get Luis Castillo in the Spring or Summer of 2022. Instead of compromised Spencer Strider and Bryce Freaking Elder starting playoff games, it's Castillo starting Game 3. Might have a much different outcome for those playoff runs.

The bigger mistake was Contreras, I agree fully. Especially since they were still going with TDA/Murphy as a true platoon. That whole thing was so terrible, and I still don't get the logic other than they thought there were going to be 3-4 SB attempts per game. It's insane to look back on.

Yeah the same few dudes that steal bags are stealing lol nothing changed

The Contreras trade made zero sense for us at the time. But it made even less sense for Oakland. What in the hell were they thinking?

Looking back, if Oakland was willing to take that ****** of a package for a top 5 catcher in the game, we should have just traded Contreras separately to Brewers for the best possible package that included Ruiz, then flipped Ruiz and the rest of the package to Oakland separately. It's insane how little Milwaukee had to give up to get Contreras.

May not want to look back at all who were in favor! Almost everyone except for yours truly

Yall have followed this way more than me but what’s up with the WR room? Why so thin?
They went all in on Tate and got out bid.

They weren't going to pay a supplemental guy starter money to not start, so here we are. They'll need to be creative. Hope to see more TE heavy sets and maybe even throw Morris out wide every now and then.

I DO think Jackson and Smith will be good this year though. Both are built like juniors.

It's not Matt Olson's fault. He's an excellent baseball player and has been the second best 1B in the sport since we got him. That 2023 season was incredible. Sean Murphy is a top 5 player at his position and take out 2024, he has been very good. So, it's not a criticism of them. And I sort of get the logic of getting younger at 1B. But if they just sign Freeman and keep the prospects, they then would have been able to strengthen the team (get a starter, get a long-term SS after Dans left, get a LF) and really been better positioned to win a title in 2022-2024. It really is the starting point of the failures of this organization. Instead of using assets to improve the team, they just replaced positions that they already were good at with 1B and C when they had holes at SP, SS and LF the last 2-3 years. And when you consider Willy/Shea cost half of what Murphy does, and Freeman only makes $5M AAV more than Matt. They didn't even save any money.
No

He's 10th in fWAR among catchers this year at 2.5 (6th-9th place is tied at 2.6) while being 21st in PA's. He's 5th in WAR among catchers since 2022 and everyone ahead of him has over 400 more PA's than him. Since 2020, he's 4th in fWAR among catchers. He's one of the 5 best in the game.

Not the last 2 years, and not currently.

He's barely on anyone's Top 10.
