The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

General thought on base and ball: Makes a ton of sense but feels a little weird that most resources aimed at increasing championship odds went to "how many arms can we throw at shoring up the utter randomness of postseason bullpens."

Be like an nfl trade deadline shoring up kickers and gunners.

Bad comparison. Alas.

So our brain dead GM honestly said the words "I viewed the trade deadline as our off-season started now. That's the approach that we took."

And still decided to do absolutely nothing. That sure instills a lot of confidence going into next season now

Ozuna's market "wasn't robust." Understood. He's also not signed beyond this season and the Braves absolutely will not re-sign him this year. Trade him for a bucket of baseballs then. It makes absolutely no sense to keep him, even if the market for him was poor.

MLB isn’t (yet) salary cap. If you can somehow trade Iglesias and Ozuna for salary dump, that’s an extra $12M in cash you can use for next years team. A year after payroll was slashed and you reset the luxury tax. It makes zero sense to come out and say “We are competing for 2026 but I’m not trying to save money for next years team when we are 16 games under .500” makes zero, logical sense.

Liberty not wanting to sell, just to keep the stands full, as being insinuated by some on Twitter, is one of the dumbest things ever. If the team is 20 games under and out of the playoff race, Truist is going to be empty.

And the most important thing you can do is get Baldwin the ROY. You give yourself so much more flexibility long term if he wins ROY. And even giving Snit (which he already has!) the ****ing chance to play Ozuna over Baldwin and risk even .1% of that is so numb minding dumb it makes me wonder if AA is getting fired and just self sabotaging at this point. You’re telling me you can’t eat the $6M and get one lottery ticket prospect for Ozuna just to ensure Baldwin gets every opportunity to win ROY? **** off forever dude

Nobody in the city of Atlanta is gonna sit and think about not going to a game in September because Pierce Johnson, Raisel Iglesias or Marcell Ozuna is no longer on the Braves. Toscano is a damned moron.
