The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

On the hitting side, there isn't much to talk about until the drafted guys get assigned , but there are a few guys worth mentioning.

In the DSL, Tornes continues to hit well with impressive EV numbers. It hasn't resulted in any home runs yet, but he's still been impressive for a a kid that turned 17 just 4 weeks ago. Espinal and Cesa are also doing well in the DSL, though they are both repeating the league. Michael Martinez absolutely demolished the DSL and was promoted up to the FCL at the start of July. He's performed well in his short stint in the FCL with a .783 OPS.

In Augusta, there are 3-4 hitting prospects that are worth monitoring. Hartman, Drake, and Carey are all doing relatively well, albeit with very little power at the moment. But they are all just 19, so there's still time for that. And so far the plate discipline and bat to ball skills have been pretty impressive for these 3 guys, plus they are all very good defenders, particularly Drake. Douglas Glod has also been hitting the ball well after he started the year on an awful 0-23 run. He has a line of .252/.372/.407 since that slump to start the year. The K rate is pretty concerning though.

The only player worth mentioning in the upper levels right now is David McCabe, He has been on fire the last month+ with a .917 OPS over his last 117 PAs.

I was told Fuentes stinks

The ERA doesn't look pretty in the majors or in the minors this year, but it's hard to deny the pure stuff. In his brief stint in the majors, Stuff+ had all of his pitches rating better than major league average in terms of velocity and movement. That's impressive for any pitcher, much less for a guy that turned 20 years old 3 days before he was called up. He seemed to have trouble spotting his fastball and someone mentioned he was tipping his pitches.

But people should be really excited about this kid. There is legitimate ace upside.

You’d think somebody would give up a low level prospect to have a guy that can come off the bench and hit it to the moon 3-4 times down the stretch.

Eat the salary and take some 25 year old with a 10% walk rate that throws 98 and just call it a day. Having him on the roster is more of a detriment than that the actual prospect. We can't let Snit have on the roster and potentially taking away AB's from Baldwin

I think the issue is Ozuna actually agreeing to a trade.

It may be more about Ozuna just refusing to move too.
Reports from a couple days ago said he would be open to a trade.

I mean at the very least you offer him up and agree to a deal pending Ozuna's approval and let people know it's up to Ozuna. At least at that point you don't leave any question it was Ozuna's decision.

Regardless, there should be zero reason why Iggy and multiple other relievers are on this team in 8 hours.

Then DFA him.

He can't be on the roster. It's nothing personal. They need Drake to win ROY. It's the most important thing (other than Mikey staying hot) for the next two months.

Agreed, I might even offer an incentive to be traded. Tell him you will kick in an extra 50k if he agrees to waive his 10/5 rights.
